Name a dynamic in all of Trek that is better than Kirk/Spock/Bones.

protip: you can't

Also, Star Trek thread.

Also, anyone who even thinks about saying Bashir/O'Brien should put down the keyboard and put the dick back in their mouth.

You're right. Bashir/O'Brien is great banter, but it's not the well-oiled machine that is Kirk/Spock/Bones
>>
>>63894263
It didn't get nearly as much play either. Tos, at least good tos, was Kirk /Spock /bones the show.

Odds on this guy making it through the entire thing? I mean it's pretty awful

>>63895362

I was suprised both by how great they are, and by how bad they are. Some episodes are so weird and incoherent, but when everything clicks it's fucking awesome.

it's always amused me how many times mcCoy walks into rooms and just injects people with drugs like he's got his own agenda

the quality is inconsistent. the trick is maintaining your hopes that the next episode will be a good one.

The quality is consistent. It's FUCKING AWESOME through and through. There are no bad episodes, only good episodes and better episodes. And then there are the best episodes, when Kirk is half naked and sweaty.

he never actually says that tho, like "Beam me up Scotty" and "Luke I am you're father"

Anyone else remember the excitement they felt about Enterprise when watching that premiere episode? All the promise the show seemed to have...

How the fuck did they mess up such a genuinely good premise?
>>
Im near the end of TNG, should I watch DS9 or Voyager first?
>>
>>63900268
DS9. If you've already passed Chain of Command then DS9 has already started.
>>
>>63900314
It's like one episode away.
It's more action oriented than TNG, right?
>>
Was just thinking, Bones banter with Spock was downright racist. All those 'green blood' comments and calling him a computer, etc.
>>
>>63900430
It's okay because he has no emotions
>>
>>63900374
It's more character-oriented than TNG.

People remember that DS9 had the big giant battles with hundreds of ships, but that was only 8 episodes out of 176.

Fuck, I don't want to relive the slowly waning hope I had for this series when it first premiered.
>>
>>63895362
brace your anus for Nazi Planet.

Not an amazing episode but it has one of my favorite moments in all of the original series

>Kirk and Spock spend a long time trying to find disguises to hide themselves and that Spock is a Vulcan
>finally knock out some guards
>take all their clothes and dress up like Nazis
>once they're disguised, they head back out onto the street
>they are immediately stopped and a guard rips Spocks helmet off for no reason revealing them

It's such a long ass scene with them trying to get disguised and it gets blown within 3 seconds for no fucking reason. Gave me a hearty chuckle
>>
>>63900131
>>63901316
I didn't give it a chance when it was on because I was disappointed that it wasn't following up DS9 and the temporal cold war plot was stupid, but I'm watching it again and everything else is great. Good, clean, trek fun.
>>
>>63901107
There was little indication from that Caretaker episode that Voyager would be anything particularly special.

Broken Bow though is great and really sets the stage for what should have been a fantastic show.
>>
>>63901221
Garak/Kira/Damar is the GOAT Kardashian sandwich.
>>
>>63901477
Voyagercould have been really good if it expanded on some of the stuff in caretaker instead of resolving nearly all of the maquis conflict in the first few episodes and abandoning the survival in unknown space angle almost immediately.
>>
>>63901577
I stand corrected. Don't know why I forgot about the cardassian resistance. Damar has one of the best arcs in trek.
>>
>>63901577
But Garak was gay for Bashir.
>>
>>63901107
Garak had nothing good with Jadzia.

Missed opportunity tbhonest.
>>
>>63901744
I wish they had the balls to go through with that. If you're already mixing species you're way past giving a shit.
>>
>>63901936
I guess we saw Garak's more emotional side with his interactions with Dukat's daughter. They may have felt that was enough emotional stuff for Garak.
>>
>>63901224
>Gene Roddenberry shoving his name on everything he was even tangentially related to
>even after he's dead
That goy could out-Jew most Jews.

>>63901224
All I remember is that the ships had holographic controls, which was cool as hell. Also, the weird wrist-bug guns.

>>63901744
Nah, he just figured Bashir was a fag and approached him that way to get close and maybe do spy crap or something. Understandable mistake, seeing's how Bashir is Arab and all.
>>
>>63901936
The writers and actors wanted to go through with it, but the producers (read: Rick Berman) said no.

>Andrew Robinson: Yes, and his sexuality. I started out playing Garak as someone who doesn't have a defined sexuality. He's not gay, he's not straight, it’s a non-issue for him. Basically his sexuality is inclusive. But--it’s Star Trek and there were a couple of things working against that. One is that Americans really are very nervous about sexual ambiguity. Also, this is a family show, they have to keep it on the "straight and narrow", so then I backed off from it. Originally, in that very first episode, I loved the man's absolute fearlessness about presenting himself to an attractive human being. The fact that the attractive human being is a man (Bashir) doesn't make any difference to him, but that was a little too sophisticated I think. For the most part, the writers supported the character beautifully, but in that area they just made a choice they didn't want to go there, and if they don't want to go there I can't, because the writing doesn’t support it.

>Robert Hewitt Wolfe: The way I wrote him (and I think the way Andy so wonderfully played him), Garak was attracted to Bashir. He knew that attraction was not going to be returned (or even particularly noticed) and that was okay. He considered Bashir a friend and a protegee. There’s nothing overt, there’s no big flags waving or anything. It’s all subtext. So maybe ‘clearly’ is an overstatement.
>How about, ‘It would not be wrong to interpret Garak as bisexual.’

LaForge, Data and Work were always fun.

Laforge was pretty bland. Worf and Riker were top tier bros until the imzati bull shit.
