I entered the theatre with this in mind. But I think it was well handled. It has been stated that the force is used to better handle the lightsaber, so, if she has a strong enough conection with the force, it wouldnt be so out of place. Specially considering Kylo was shown to be pretty green still, and was fighting hurt from the blast shot of Chewbacca
I also think there is more to her than just being force-sensitive. Specially from the way Kylo reacted when he heard she had the droid. Some people have talked about mind wiping ala KOTOR 1 and 2, that might be a reason.
