no you didn't you only want to fuck emily browning
>>
Poor Emily...
>>
Good movie. Redditors will disagree of course, since it tarnishes their rosy view of the world.
>>
This movie ruined Emily Browning's career
>>
Yes. Too bad it went over everyone's heads.
>>
Yes, the plebs who couldn't understand it will say otherwise though. It is very flawed, but it is worth watching.
>>
It is a film which true plebs and true patricians agree is great, and everyone in the middle hated.
>>
Idiots and new wave feminists would say yes.

Hello Reddit

>>63867626
So it truly is a patrician film, then? Might give it a watch.
>>
I liked it!
>>
>>63867667
reddit hated it
>>
>>63867670
May as well give it a whirl. Try to watch the longer version if you can find it.
>>
>>63867670
Good, keep in mind that it's more or less supposed to be a musical about the paradoxes of female empowerment. It falls short of being what it could have been though.
>>
>>63867739
Sounds like a plan, and...
>>63867683
...if reddit hates it, that's all the more reason to watch it, right?
>>
>>63867583
Nope
I wanted to fuck jamie chung

Visually it was great, plot-wise it was shit.

It had some nice visuals and action scenes, but the movie is pretty poor. Snyder was retarded and tried to do some tryhard drama shit, while having women in skimpy clothing fighting dragons.

He should have made an action comedy and people would be all over it.
>>
It's a great film visually but it's a shit film in basically every other fashion.
>>
No black male characters...
>>
>>63867932
Snyder is a retard
300 was the only best movie he ever made

I think he was cut out of the theatrical release tho.
The extended version is definitely the better way to go.

But anyways the movie pulls a 2deep4u that sailed clean over most people's heads the first time they see it. Some of the theories trying to explain the movie are kinda interesting though.
>>
>>63868034
Why? It was awesome. And manly.

I'm pretty sure he's pointing out the grammar mistake.

>>
>>63868054
In the theatrical release he does the lobotomy
In the extended version there is the scene with him explaining shit in her mind
>>
>>63868077
>implying its possible for snyder too make two best movies
he's spelling is correct familia
>>
>>63868047

MovieBob liking it should be a big tip off. Him and Snyder have the same level of critical thought put into their work.
>>
>>63868046
The absolute truth
>>
I didn't like it but I didn't hate it. It was meh.

So were they actually getting fucked while dreaming the action scenes?
>>
>>63868116
Ahh, yeah that's right. I forgot about the lobotomy scene. His brothel bit is much, much better.
>>
>>63868159
In all likelihood, probably.

So I'll just throw this out there - my favorite interpretation of this movie is that...

Fucking huge spoilers ahead
No, I'm serious cockface. If you haven't seen the movie, don't read this shit. Go watch it first, trust me.
Ok so the theory is that Baby Doll, Rocket, Blondie, and Amber are actually alternate personalities for Sweet Pea. She was legitimately crazy, put in the mental institution, and then because it was such a shitty place she added the fantasy-within-a-fantasy inception bit on top as added protection from reality.
But then it turns out that these alternate selves are somewhat useful to her, and allow her to plot her escape with their "help". Remember that throughout the movie Sweet Pea is the most reluctant member of the crew, always getting scared and trying to call the whole thing off. She ends up sacrificing them all in the process of escaping, but when she finally emerges from the institution she's down to just one persona again, thus being "healed" by the experience and no longer nuts.
The one bit clue that this theory hinges on is early in the show when Sweet Pea claims "After all, I'm the star of the show!" during their one rehearsal, even though she's clearly not the protagonist of the movie. She's also the least fantasy-like character and does the fewest batshit crazy stunts in the movie. All because she's the prime personality of this girl, and hence reluctant and scared on her own.

It's a far out theory but I kind of like it.

What about the bus driver?
>>
>>63868528
And the little boy.

>>63868485
Not bad.
>>
>>63867507
not enough panty shots
>>
It was hot teens in lingerie fighting war battles to pander to horny edgy sperglords, and then they added a "maybe there's a deeper meaning" aura but without any substantial hints so nerds could fap to it whilst pretending it's actually not a glorified porno.

>>
>>63868485
what the fuck is wrong with you
>>
>>63868528
Yeah it has some holes for sure. I don't really know how to explain the bus driver without cheapening the whole movie substantially. He's a weird character because he appears in different universes and at both the beginning and end of the movie.

>>63868642
It's not my theory, just to be clear. I just thought it was clever. I hadn't considered that specific possibility, but it almost fits.
>>
>>63867683
Just what reddit would say to trick us into watching something only they would enjoy.
>>
>>63868568
>"maybe there's a deeper meaning" aura
I love when people react to it like this. It isn't even all that subtle about it and outright explains the shit its going to do in the introductory sequence. You just have to deny that you were that stupid.
>>
>>63868485
It honestly doesn't matter if that's true. All the grim-dark and depressing reality stuff doesn't stop the film being utterly shit.

As >>63868568 says. It's just an excuse to string some pop-videos together staring some hot girls in lingerie. It's really nothing more subtle than that.
>>
>>63868917
>It's really nothing more subtle than that.
Then why's it called Sucker Punch?
>>
>>63867820
Emily Browning's version of "Where is my mind" is a classic example of covers that you shouldn't like, but have that something that clicks with you.
>>
>>63869007
It's Synder's idea of being edgy and smart.
>>
>>63869131
If you don't understand it, then he is actually smarter than you. The movie requires you to at least be able to enjoy holding contradictory ideas in your head in order to appreciate it. If you don't care for the way it does that, that's one thing, but so straight up ignore what should be clear thematically and how this is presented just reflects on you.
>>
>>63869267
We all understand it, it's middle school level writing. So was the obsession with under-dressed girls.
>>
>>63869356
>We all understand it, it's middle school level writing.

Explain to me, in your own words, what the movie is trying to do.
