I think what Lucas wanted was for the midi-chlorians to explain why The Force seems so real even to us who can find something in our real world philosophical and religious traditions suggesting the existence of such a thing, but it seems that we don't have the kind of sensitivity that enables as many of us to become Jedi. George's midi-chlorians suggests that even if "The Force" were real in our own world, the characters of this fictional universe are physiologically different from ourselves in a subtle way that allows so many "average" people to become Sith and Jedi and other things we can only dream of which is far more limited. I say "limited" because there are many in our world who still believe in psychokinesis, magic and prophets/saints with miraculous power. I think George wanted to explain why miraculous power seems more evenly distributed in the Star Wars universe.
The unfortunate thing I think was that a group of fedora wearing neckbeard's instinctive reaction was that the Force was just something biological which probably said more about their own euphoria than anything about Lucas' actual intentions. The existence of force sensitive droids or AI suggests that the midi-chlorians are a direct product of consciousness rather than the essence of consciousness. Also, the explanation for the Yuuzhan Vong's lack of force sensitivity and Meetra the Exile (KOTOR 2) becoming a "void" in The Force both suggest that consciousness drives the midichlorians not the other way around. What's funny about it is Jacen's whole fall started with killing that one girl because he knew that if he let her live, Luke would eventually be killed by Jacen. Hey, I like Filoni Wars. Unlike some of the stuff Disney seems to be pumping out, it's much more in the spirit of Old EU than the Disney EU. So even if it contradicts the previously established Legends stories in some places, I still consider it like the last piece of what will soon become the old star wars mythos. I haven't seen Rebels, but from what I have seen of it, it feels like it has more of Disney's touch. The ending of Clone Wars with Yoda and the Priestesses feels more like it could be a final swan song to the Star Wars I grew up with than the beginning of Disney's new canon to me.

I thought his death was perfect... jiana convinces herself to hate her brother and vicously attacks him to kill him because she thinks Jacen murdered Mara, and he is know an evil Monster, when infact he was defending himself from her because Mara had been tricked by Lumyia that Jacen was gonna kill Ben, when he never was.
But then right before Jiana kills him, his true intent is revealed and she is crushed because it is too late to stop her swing and she kills him.
