I used to think that too, but now I actually kinda like the concept. The explanation for their lack of the force also works with some of the stuff that was explored in Kotor 2.

I think it's unfair to compare a single movie to the entire expanded universe. The movie was better than Dark Empire but worse than Heir to the Empire
