Let's be honest about The Force Awakens.
If George Lucas directed this film it would be torn to shreds. Everyone would criticize the film for its complete lack of originality, refusal to introduce any new ideas.
People would point out the weak performances from Ridley + Fin, the clear lack of interest from Ford and the abusive advertisement of Luke - a character with no lines.
If Lucas directed this he would be labelled one of the worst directors ever for bringing in yet another 'superweapon is destoryed at it's one weakness plot', and for copy pasting Kylo Ren from a Vader design.
So - why is it okay for JJ? Why is their no genuine analysis made over his sloppy, unimaginative film making?

It's riddled absolutely RIDDLED with errors and inconsistency.
Yes, it's easier to consume than the PT, however, at least the PT had some original ideas and tried to bring something new to the series. The Force Awakens didn't do that, so I think that brings it down to the level of the PT.

And yes the PT is more honorable in a way because Lucas aimed high and his mistakes were borne of genuine autism. TFA is a cartoon for chinese children that aims low and almost misses the mark anyway.
