It's essentially a dumbed down palatable copy of the 40k universe, (it was originally going to be 40k but GW are greedy cunts).
For everything shit about GW, I'd rather see a 40k movie than Starcraft. 40k has way more depth.
SC would have made a better cinematic universe than Halo.
I appreciated how bleak it was. There wasn't a 'good' guy. Humanity wasn't some crusading space knights bringing our enlightened ways to the universe. They were selfish and ruthless. The people fighting humanity's battles against total and utter destruction were made up mostly of marines who were the expendable refuse of society. Worlds were kept docile with indoctrinating propaganda and oppressive tyrannic rulers. It captured the 'indifference' of the universe. That the only thing that ultimately mattered was who could muster the most brutality and violently stake their claim.
