So the makers of The Expanse are giving us a Fedora wearing protagonist..
>>
He gets made fun of for it pretty consistently

Truthfully, as he's not a fat neckbeard it doesn't look that bad on him.

The belters like to make fun of his Earther clothes.

That's a trilby, not a fedora.

Moron.

Belters in general are pretty big guys

>Honestly he is a goodlooking actor but it still looks fucking retarded. Especially that he's wearing it a little on the side. I guess they could make it more appealing if there would be a jazzy hihat rythm when he walks.

They're tall but scrawny.

It's a throwback to those old noir detectives that popularized the look in the first place, you fucking child.
>>
>>63719268
He would loom alright in an actual fedora, trilbys just scream autism, even 10/10 chads would look like a euphoric militant atheist with one on.
>>
>I'm actually enjoying a syfy show
WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON
>>
>>63719988
It's like they actually spent some money on it for once.
>>
Did he wear a fedora in the book(s)?
>>
>>63720088
He wore a "porkpie hat"

Screw the Fedora, how do I get those Super Maritain Adderalls?

I once sat over my studies, slightly high and imagined how awesome it would be if you actually belong to the team of specialist who the design the terraforming process for mars.
>>
>>63719268
>Whole crew of mars battleship dies apart from that one guy
>Only the voice of reason medic dies from the shuttle crew
Seriously, is there a likable character among the shuttle crew besides the Martian pilot?
>>
>>63720830
You should read the Mars Trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson.
>>
>>63720889
In the books they are all pretty cool

can you please translate that from autistic to english?
also not native english speaking since iam euromaster

The moral man is too obnoxiously moral "hurr distress beacon", "hurr send the transmission", "hurr save muh crew", it's like he wants to get killed, Jesus.

The angryman is just angry, and the chick is just bland.

I hope the Martian man doesn't die, he seems to be a bro.
>>
>>63721081
I've not watched any of the show yet so don't know how far things have gone, but it doesn't sound like anyone apart from Holden (muh morals) has had any development yet.
>>
>>63721079
It's a long read but it's worth it. It covers the first Mars colony and terraforming, as well as stuff like space elevators and a colony on Mercury.
>>
>>63721183
And terraforming Mars with tiny little fans.
>>
>>63721081

Unfortunately having read some of the books I can confirm that 'moral man' doesn't change, and only goes on to become increasingly more annoying as the show drags on.

At the end of the first book they find the guy behind all the bad shit that happened to them who is slick company suit in a megacorp. Thomas Jane's character realises he'll get arrested and then end up getting let off with a rap on the knuckles because he's slimy, well connected and rich so he shoots him dead. Moral man goes ape shit on Thomas Jane for killing him.
>>
>>63721183
I'd rather like to know if the authors narrating style is fun. Because there is lots of scifi which has great concepts but after the first pages i stop because of the style.

Fantasy is even worse when they try to force all their made up tribes and nations on you in every subsentence.
>>
>>63721079
I recommend only reading the first one. After that, it goes into bizarro spiritual crazy town combined with some asspull hack science that will literally have you cringing.
>>
>>63721521
Mars Trilogy can really start to drag in the 2nd and 3rd books, goes into some autistic detail about how the political system would work. The first book is absolutely worth the read, but I wouldn't blame you for giving up on the others.
>>
This show is goddamn great

Man what a pleasant surprise. I thought the best we could hope for was that Dark Matter type shit.

The Star Trek episode "Miror Mirror" introduces a parallel universe where the federation is replaced by an evil Terran empire and the crew have different personalities (Spock has a cool goatee too).

The Enterprise episode "In A Mirror, Darkly" is also set in this universe. Hence it's a different T'Pol.
>>
>>63720889

"Voice of reason guy" was a coward and also lied about being a doctor. You heard him, the minute they put some pressure on him he told them everything. He is the definition of unreliable. You do not want him hanging around.
>>
>>63721521
I think it's alright provided it's interesting. Simply listing off bizzare names of people who hold claim over some-such non-interesting hill is obviously shit.
>>
>>63721780
2 minutes into the audiobook and hes already dropping the fantasy names..
I think i'll just force myself through

>>63722063
Don't think so.

Although it lead to prequel series, I don't think there was ever a backdoor pilot in BSG.
>>
>>63721945
I wasn't referencing the author of this, I was speaking generally.

But I do despise when authors just list off far off places to try and add some sense of scale when it's not remotely pertinent to what's going on.
>>
>>63722132

afaik the mini-series was a pilot to see if it would be popular enough. it was just like this, but 3-parts or something and showed the cylons nuking all the human worlds.
>>
>>63722170
>>63722235

>wasn't the BSG mini-series a way too see if it would be popular/good?
Didn't realise. It thought it was always planned to lead to a series.

I believe The Expanse is a 10 episode season, with a second season already ordered.
>>
>>63722310
oh i thought it was a mini-series. they're just releasing the first few episodes fast to create buzz? damn thought this would actually be going somewhere instead of syfy's eternal wheelspinning
>>
Finally getting around to watching ep 4 desu laddys
