Is anyone else watching Childhood's End?
It's based on the Arthur C. Clarke book and it's pretty fucked up and they seem not to be fucking up the whole "aliens look like demons" thing

SyFy seems to do this thing where for every 20 cheesy as "Monster A vs Monster B" movie they do to gain audience and money, they do 1 project with some love and care for the source material and decent effects.
The fact that Karellen is mostly a practical effect with the wings and using a trick involving a stunt double as CGI amazed me.
Only thing I didn't like is the really slow pace, and the lack of any proper character development outside of Stormgren and Karellen.
