The problem with this series is, there is nothing wrong with an action series set in space. Except there's already been a bunch. What the Star Trek series had was something special that no other show came close to imitating. And they just basically decided to go eeh fuck it let's just cut all the diplomatic and advanced society bullshit out and let's make em all trigger-happy angry people ready to fight as a first or second choice. Did they even give a shit that their fellow student or whatever got fucked by the blades when they landed onto that thingy in the first movie? No they didn't. Just like SW fans had hopes that maybe TPM might just be "the bad one" and the series would get back on track with Attack Of The Clones

People getting mad at this are retarded. Yeah, it isn't Star Trek. It hasn't been Star Trek since the first movie. It's an space action adventure flick with characters and setpieces loosely based off a campy old TV show. It should've been obvious to even the densest viewer after Into Darkness that the aim of the series was not going to be to faithfully recreate classic Star Trek, it was to be a fun action movie in space with nice visuals and a widely likeable cast of characters. Into Darkness failed for me because the writing and overall plot were fucking awful, not because it was an action movie where Spock gets into a fist fight with Khan.
The only difference with this trailer is that they dropped the facade they put up in the first two movies that let idiots dupe themselves into thinking what they were watching was still a somewhat faithful Star Trek movie.
Honestly I liked the trailer. It told me exactly what to expect: good looking action, adventures, a fun cast of characters. I like all that stuff, and I'll probably see this when it comes out. It's not Star Trek, and I like Star Trek too, but I can watch that any time. The old series aren't going anywhere.
