I'm cautiously optimistic about this.
I really like the idea of 20 years having the second main wave of aliens arrive.The one who typically harvest a planet. (the ones from the original being the first wave city destroyers/ground forces)
I also like they had humanity reverse engineer the alien tech, with the world governments working together like never before. Alien contact is supposed to be one of the things that could truly unite humanity like never before and it would be fascinating to see a movie take on the world/political changes that would result from a negative first contact experience like the first movie.

I'm actually excited about this, they seem to have world building going on. You can definitely feel like the events of the first movie had an effect on the world and the main characters. They have a backstory to what's been going on for the last 20 years. Plus the concept is something you don't see a lot in Sci-fi Movies.
It's better than most of the blockbuster shits that's going to come out next year.
