Girl holly was qt
>it's a Rimmer episode
>>63596927
Back to earth was embarrassing. Flagrant cash grab. S3-6 are the best. S1-2 were decent but no Krytin. S7-8 was meh but does have Kochanski.
>>63597264
Red Dwarf X was alright. I actually prefer the first two seasons over the rest, its so comfy and Norman Lovett is based.
>>63597264
I had a comedy scifi craving and turned on a random episode. Then I realised I hadnt seen the final 2 series and now Ive gotta watch from s1 to the end like my autism requires.
>>63596975
That's every episode.
Red Dwarf is one of those shows that I enjoy but wish they would do one last season and give it a proper final ending (hopefully a happy one and not one where they all die)
Kind of like "always sunny" and "venture bros". One last season and a cool finale
Anyway, I enjoyed the last season, even though they made lister complain too much about his missing girlfriend. Who wasn't even his real gf (she was from another universe) and she left because he was gross (unlike her hologram lister)
I prefered it when kokanski wasn't his gf in the past though . It was more poignant that she wouldn't give him the time of day and now she was dead for a few million years.
*smug mode, activated*
Who's excited for the new 2 seasons?
>>63597398
There's two more series inbound, back-to-back filming started like a day ago.
>>63597398
Absolutely agree about Kochanski, plus the original was much more qt imo.
>that accent
>it's a Red Dwarf USA pilot episode

>>63597423
I knew they were doing another series but I hope after this they do a big final episode
The cast is getting pretty old
>>63597506
I kind of like the cast getting older though, I think it fits with the whole idea of misfits just stuck in deep space.
One thing I don;t understand is why there's people populating the universe in Red Dwarf X. There's that episode where Rimmer's brother appears, I have no idea how that works.
>>63597440
They must have altered history when they went back to the past and had it so Dave and her actually dated
I assume the Future Dave that was dating her at the hotel was the same as the evil Dave that had his history erased when rimmer blew up the time machine engine thing in the season finale episode (forget which season)>>63597456
>>63597456
Christ, it was a great show but the showrunners really were money whores. By their own admission, Kochanski was added as a main because they needed a female character to try and get a Hollywood movie.
>>63597264
First two seasons were good BECAUSE of there being no Kryten. Don't get me wrong. he's loveable and plenty funny throughout, but he's clearly a crutch for the writers in place of the stuff that couldn't be gotten away with in his absence.
Better said, seasons 1 and 2 are science fiction with sitcom elements and season 3 onwards is a sitcom with science fiction elements.
Sometimes I wish I could live alone in a massive spess station.
>>63597400
Not me. I love Red Dwarf but dragging them all back together every five years to watch them get fatter and older is kinda sad.
Red Dwarf would make for a good IDW comic book series
>>63597456

Prime RD right here.
The Grant Naylor partnership dissolving fucked this show completely.
I think the accents in this show popularized garage music
Red dwarf is only fools and horses in space. Pleb show
>>63597816
>>63597816
OK.
>>63597625
If i got anything from this thread, it was that picture, gg
>>63597831
Think about it. Lister is Del Boy, Krytin is grandad and Trigger, Rimmer is Rodney and Boycie and Cat is whatever carecther they need for a specific episode plot. Being lost in space is just innability to escape their current circumstances, just like Rodney and Del in OFAH. The spaceship is literally Peckham and each episode is just "this time next year well be millionaires rodney".
>>63597349
This, friends and family. Male Holly is the GOAT.
>>63597775
>a little bit too severe
>a little bit green beret
>>63597924
Friendly reminder:Lister's sheriff star has the regular six points.
>>63597785
who is working on the new eps?
>>63598004
Doug Naylor has done it by himself since the end of series 6. Not sure if he's back for the new shows but I'd presume so.
>>63598137
could've sworn i read that grant was involved somehow, but that might have been bullshit speculation from one of these threads
>>63597456
That actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. They get the tone wrong though.
>>63598331
What is it?

She seems really nice too.
The actor of Kryten also seems like a really cool guy. I'd want to meet him in person.
>>63597398
How crazy would it be if they brought Kochanski back in the new season, but as a simulant.
It would make for an interesting and poignant twist.and maybe have simulant Kochanski join the main cast, albeit reprogrammed
>hologram rimmer goes to the other universe as new Ace Rimmer
>nanomachines rebuild red dwarf and make nano-rimmer
>nano-rimmer meets grim reaper and kicks him in the balls
>grim reaper was actually original Hologram Rimmer
>He was Ace for awhile but had a bunch of Bad Guys after him from his adventures
>pretends to be Grim Reaper in a bizarre complex plot to trick Nano-Rimmer into replacing him as new Ace
>nano-rimmer ultimately goes and becomes new Ace
>Old Hologram Rimmer returns as main Rimmer for new season
The memories of each crew is recorded by the computer ? That's how it makes the hologram? Though the regular rimmer seems self contained since it had the light bug. I'd think nano-rimmers memories were recorded and given to original rimmer too (it would assume they are the same person).
>>63598830
That makes my head hurt.
>>63598830
Alternately, holo Rimmer left behind a personality recording before he left, and nano-rimmer died in that last episode, updating the ship's personality recording. Lister couldn't remember which was which so he just copied both to one file and ran it.
Was it a laugh track?
>>63600016
Not originally. One of the reasons Chris Barrie temporarily left was due to feeling pressured by the audience.
IIRC, it was a track later on, or he got over it.
>>63597546
>that episode where Rimmer's brother appears
there are no people or aliens, just remnants of human technology left behind like simulants, polymorphs and holograms. they encountered a holoship before, that's what his brother was: dead, but a hologram
>>63600169
>simulants, polymorphs and holograms
Don't forget a whole species of humanoid cats evolved over 3 million years in the ducts of a space ship while it was contaminated by radiation.
They actually never addressed the species again or how Lister is 'god' past the first season.
Red Dwarf is patrician tier.
Which other britkuks shows would you recommend /tv/ ? I didn't get into Father Ted, and Black Adder and Black books got their moment.
>>63600392
Toast of London is a recent series starring based Matt Berry. Watch that.
>>63597440
>Kochanski
you talking shit about my spacefu?
So... this is pretty much a long running tv-show version of Hitchhiker Guide, right?
>>63600334
It's clearly stated that the Cat's ancestors were shielded away from the Cadmium II leak.
>>63600478
nah this is a white washed version that doesnt have mos def the great intelligent scifi writer

their was an abandoned cat episode where he meets other cats. season 7 i think

>Better said, seasons 1 and 2 are science fiction with sitcom elements and season 3 onwards is a sitcom with science fiction elements.
It's the other way around
>>63601513
There are literally no aliens in the first two seasons and no alien technology, this make it closer to science fiction than science fantasy. Red Dwarf slowly devolves into space cowboy adventure and you know it.
As well, the laugh rate for the show pushed a little harder for regular laughs more frequently from the audience; later, made much, much easier with pre-recorded laugh tracks installed from living on Space Bug onward.
>>63601916
Except for the despair squid, everything else is just soething left over from the humans. There are no aliens in red dwarf.
>>63602132
i thought all the life in that ocean was engineered and placed there by humans too?
>>63601916
it sounds like we agree and that you're just using a stricter/different definition for sc-fi

You might be right. That's just the only one I couldn't explicitly remember as not being created by people so I omitted it.
