Hitler sucked at the higher level military orders due to the fact that he was merely a corporal in the first world war.
This girl basically was conditioned by all the propaganda and the Hitler youth conditioning into thinking that she had to gallantly die for the cause even though the cause was obviously lost. It's a powerful scene showing the tragedy of fanaticism when literal children are dying for a lost cause.
In just about every case Hitler would order generals to "fight to the last man" and they'd promptly surrender. No one wants to die merely because some asshole told them to.
