This is simply wrong. Cola refers to any black cola style beverage, Pepsi cola, coca cola, generic colas, etc.
Soda and pop and are used interchangly depending on your local dialect to refer to any sugary carbanoated beverage.
Everyone used to call fizzy drinks soda pop, and some folks abridged it to soda, others to pop.
