I've actually know the star of Miami Connection Y.K. Kim, he's the grandmaster of my martial arts dojo. Dude is fucking awesome, old-school Korean type badass. Moved to America in his 20s and was so poor he literally ate dogfood once, now he's a millionaire community leader with city and state holidays named after him. Look it up, the state of Virginia and the city of Orlando both have an annual "Y.K. Kim Day", lel

The entire cast of the movie actually consists of him and his taekwondo students, 100% amateur (obviously). He spent basically every last dime he had at the time funding the movie. For a non-professional, all the action scene cinematography and coreography is really top-notch. Surprisingly good use of blood effects too. Sure the acting is laughable, but that just adds to the enjoyment. It's a GOAT comfy action flick. Doesn't hurt that the whole thing is on YouTube either ;)

All this time. Just waiting.

HUD hadn't been turned into a weapon to de-whiten our cities to turn them into democrat strongholds yet. That begun under Clinton. So most cities outside of LA and New York were still decent and overall safe.

On the plus side we had arcades.. I practically lived in those growing up. There was this one.. man, these feels. The main arcade floor itself was dark, smoky, a labyrinth of blinking neon lights and tobacco. You could easily disappear into it and no one could find you over the cacophony of blips and beeps, punk music, and the whir of giant industrial fans. It was like some deep secret underground club, a sanctuary that let teens feel like they were living on the edge. It was run by this shady as fuck greasy italian guy who was always running gambling/bookie shit out of the back room, while watching porn tapes on a beat up tiny TV and smoking cigars and generally giving zero shits about what all the kids got up to.

Movies like Breakin and Purple Rain as well as the various "middle America small-town" movies like Johnny B Good and Gremlins are more indicative of what the 80's looked like than Scarface

It has early internet hacking which is kind of cool, and Natalie Wood who was "not murdered" by her husband Robert Wagner because he thought she was screwing her co-star Christopher Walken.
