Films with very little focus in storyline/and or lacking story cohesiveness but still are amazing. Ex: Gueros, one of my top 10 this year imo. i think this film is proof that characters are way more important than storyline, and that mainstream media puts way too much emphasis on story to make films "comfortable" to watch.

Sounds like indie films are making moe anime for film students

Hows Güeros, OP?
You are mistaking plot for story/storyline.

In my top 10 of the year. Very dream like and surreal. V inspired by french newwave. Actually, at one point one of the actors kind of breaks character and rants about newwave and the mexican film scene. Kind of interesting and gives an neutral insight on something not really covered too much in film.

Güeros was great OP. As someone who lives in Mexico City, I loved the way it was depicted
Is this an embryo?

I love Carlos Reygadas' films, but they are maybe not for everyone.
The other mexican films I've enjoyed in the last few years are Miss Bala and Somos Lo Que Hay

There are some obvious ones like City of God and Y Tu Mama Tambien, but I also suggest Casa Grande and Neighboring Sounds. Both give you very interesting insight to the different class divisions in Brazil.

holy shit Neighboring Sounds was amazing

Have you seen any Amat Escalante?

I love films that tell so many interconnected stories at once. It's easy to do wrong and make it very dry, but neighboring sounds does it well.

I've only watched Heli. It was pretty good but not an enjoyable experience at all, it's a really harsh movie
