He's always been in the periphery but I think The Leftovers might be his last chance at the center of something big. Hollywood won't trust him as a leading man in an action movie or a gritty crime thriller. I foresee him as a dad in a John Green adaptation.

Because nobody would know who he was and half of the thought that goes into casting is recognizability. Seriously, I love Justin Theroux but his resume isn't really full of hits. David Lynch movies, The Leftovers, Six Feet Under, I cant think of anything else.

You just reminded me he was in thirty seconds of John Adams. He was pretty good in that.
He would have made for a better Crockett in Mann's Miami Vice than Farrell did. Theroux had a tiny part, but he has that swagger and charm that Johnson had.
