Why do Americans love to run their tv shows into the ground?
Why do the actors agree to stay around for that long?
Why do the Britishand Scandinaviansdo it so much better?
Some examples:
The Office, HIMYM, Castle, Lost, Dexter, Game of Thrones, Supernatural, True Blood, Scrubs.
Generally speaking, american popular "culture" as a whole is on the decline. We are witnessing a memetical narrative collapse of the collective mind on a spenglerian scale right now
Because people keep watching. Because ads are a thing. Because networks don't care about quality only viewer counts.
How about all those great British shows that never got a finale or conclusion?
It works both ways.
The best thing is to know EXACTLY how your series is going to end (e.g. Babylon 5) so you don't stretch it out with filler and nonsense.

>If Firefly was made in England it would be only one season
>>63517933
That's pretty sensible. Might even have been in case of situations like this (or slightly less dramatic, such as engine failure).

Why did that American murder that poor innocent animal?
Also why do Americans carry guns whilst snowmobiling
