That's why TMNT isn't really suited for live-action in the first place.
Rubber costumes worked in the 80s mostly because the shots were not nearly as detailed (and not just on a technical point of view, in terms of composition and construction of sets and managment of movement too), so the "fake" look they had did not look too out of place.
