STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING
Post a good korean movie to watch.
I'm almost through all the good ones on Netflix.
I watched New World and Three Iron and lots of other shit, but I NEED MORE.
I have Korean Fever sooo bad.
>>63459926
sorry, i forgot to specify, no faggot movies.
i want hardboiled crime and things of that nature.
>>63459937
>literally being a little kid
>>63459937
Then you can fuck right off. I'm hijacking your thread.
I've yet to see a good Korean movie. Japanese movies are so much better and it's not even close (although they haven't done much lately).
Oldboy was retarded
>>63459992
name one good japanese movie made that isn't seven samurai, yojimbo, hara kiri, shogun assassin, or tokyo drift. you can't.

Hey, I said it was good. I'm not mentioning the real shit like The Coast Guard.
>>63460312
i like me too.
>>63460022
>shogun assassin
Shogun assassin isn't even really a Japanese movie, it's a bunch of Japanese movies edited together for American audiences.
Three.... Extremes.
I was not too impressed on first watching, but my brain ponders it's questions daily.
This might actually be something for you, OP.
>>63460508
Please, nobody watch this.
>>63460564
As might this.
>>63460570
Why?
>>63460516
The "Dumplings" segment with Bai Ling was fucking great.
>>63460626
Because it's fucking awful.
>>63460663
Says you.
>>63460796
Most Kim Ki-duk movies are awful. People have to pretend because SSFWaS was a masterpiece.
>>63460998
I disagree.
>>63460022
Ikiru
Suicide Club
Tokyo Story
Woman in the Dunes
Sonatine
I could continue.
>>63459883
I Saw the Devil is easily the most grisly movie I've ever seen. Pretty sure it's on Netflix tol
>>63461064
It's also terrible.
dragon lee vs the five brothers would be a good start

followed by some elton chong movies

AYYYYYYYYYY SENPAI
What's the name of the movie where the guy is a wierdo, pretty quiet and reserved and in the end ends up being yakuza or whatever, has a huge tattoo on his back.
I don't remember a lot of details but it was pretty good, would love to find it again
>>63461104
I'm glad I know your opinion anon, thanks for posting.
I thought it was pretty good desu
>>63461028
Watch The Coast Guard, Time, Amen and the first half of Samaritan Girl again, then say that to my face not online and see what happens.
His new movie is supposed to be awful too.
Thirst
I Saw The Devil
Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter... and Spring
The Host
>>63461173
I thought The Coast Guard was okay, didn't like Time or Samaritan Girl, haven't seen Amen. I'm not saying he's the most consistent, but Spring is hardly his only great film.
I like this thread.
These are the only Korean movies you need to watch.
Ever.
It also has the added benefit of being largely unknown by /tv/.
Literally pushed the boundaries of Korean cinema.

Any crime movies similar to Memories of Murder?
JSA is a really great Korean film. It's not a revenge or sadboi flick, but it's still one of my favs.

I saw the Devil
Coldfish

>>63461744
Zodiac
Even Indonesia, India and Thailand are improving faster than Korean in movies. But at least they're not actively going backwards like Japan. Korean movies are so bad. Sometimes they try to make a Hollywood movie like Oldboy or The Host but it just comes off as low budget and goofy. The rest of Korean cinema is just terrible.
>>63461796
JSA is fucking amazing. Even my parents liked it a lot and they are usually not into asian cinema.
Any good coming-of-age stories?
>>63461861
>But at least they're not actively going backwards like Japan
Ha. You're simply a pleb. Every few years there is a noteworthy release.
>>63461939

WKW films are Hong Kong cinema. Great, nonetheless.

toppest of keks
korea has 0 culture and cannot make television, film or music. stop trying to force it just because they're "exotic." they aren't. they're america jr with even less soul.
>>63461821
Thanks but these all seem kinda horror-y
>>63462118
Hello Japan
>>63462121
Assuming you're not just talking about Asian cinema similar to Memories of Murder there's
>Gone Baby Gone
>Along Came a Spider
>Zodiac
>Se7en
>The Town
>True Detective
>>63462010
>pleb doesn't know about Indonesian moviesDirector is American but that doesn't matter.

>>63461997

>To kimchee-up its Dracula formula, Thirst uses Sang-hyun’s sense of futility as a Catholic priest. Failing to save people (or himself) from a mysterious virus that only attacks only Caucasians and Asians, he lashes back: “Now I thirst for all sinful pleasures.” It’s a religious goof—not credible consideration of disillusionment like Abel Ferrara’s The Addiction. Park’s into Halloween festivity but he has mastered a weirdly dour mischief. He lacks Q.T.’s grindhouse humor (except for a scene where three-way sex with a victim guilts the priest and his minion).Yet Park’s sensationalism (Sang-hyun prays to a mummified crucifix) and bodily horror (close-ups of bone-breaking, veins beneath skin and oozing pustules) merely out-flamboyants David Cronenberg.
>One can’t take Thirst seriously, even with its ironic cha-cha music cues, when Park sets up his usual elaborate sentimental ending— further variation on his typical self-flagellation and mortification of the flesh. His story has so little to do with spiritual or metaphysical ache, however, that it turns into hollow, fashionable transgression. Park’s less fun than Q.T., he’s a shallow DeSade.

Well if you haven't seen this Japanese film, you're quite frankly a terrible human being.

>why can't I be a pleb.
You're literally the only person I have come across who doesn't know these movies.

Nah, it's an experimental short from 1984 called Ghost. I'd link but it hits the spam filter.

>>63460022
Throne of Blood is great
>>63463068
I don't know them either. Kept this thread open so I could get some titles, but just keep being cooler than everyone, it's super neat.
>>63463390
I just flipped your image and reverse image search, google gave me Devil's circuit.
Seriously though the movie I linked is a Japanese cult classic. If you 'know' Japanese cinema you should know that film.
It's one of the only true cyberpunk films out there.
>>63463567
This is a request board, is it?
Spoonfeeding idiots creates an army of sheep circle jerking the same old shit day in day out.
Fuck off, go look at /mu/ and /v/.
>>63459883
the guy from no place
>>63463617
Jesus, that guy nailed it with elitism.
This thread is "name a movie", not "be a vague condescending cocksucker". You don't have any friends, do you?
>>63463481
Throne of Blood is literally just samurai Macbeth. Its nothing special and really overrated just because of who directed it.
>>63463731
It's literally an oldboy/korean thread.
If you think OP was remotely serious, you have been meme'd my friend.
The only people actually posting in this thread are utter newfags.
Like yourself.
Since a lot of people posted the classic ones that can't be miss, I'll post some ones I've seen that are rarely talked about since I have been in Korea.
Attack the gas station, Han gong-ju, Jiseul, R-Point, Barking Dogs Never Bite, Eyelids, 'My love, Don't cross that river.'
But yeah, can't go wrong with most of the recommendations on this thread. Especially the films of Kim Ki-Duk
>>63463575
Well, if you 'know' japanese cinema, you should know Takashi Ito.
>>63463780
Whatever helps you sleep at night champ.
What is that Asian movie where it shows the atmosphere and it slowly pans past a city and a guy rides on a motorcycle?
>>63463575
I would know it if you just said the name. I haven't seen it everything.
964 Pinocchio? One of the Tetsuo movies?
>>63463796
Yeah no, he has done nothing for the scene. Not like Fukui has, not like Tsukamoto did.
>>63463821
Are you seriously trying to argue OP was serious in his creation of this oldboy thread? I will admit it is thinly viewed but anything ANYTHING relating to Korean cinema is an absolute troll.
Come back tomorrow and you will see.
>>63463868
>964 Pinocchio
Ding ding, have some faith in yourself.
>>63463854
Akira
>>63463881
I'm not arguing anything with someone so dense.
Just keep posting movies, son.

>>63463988
Ignorance truly is bliss.
Why the fuck do you come here if you don't want to argue? are you that misguided you think actual discussion happens here? fucking lol.
You just don't have a leg to stand on, newfag.
Anyway, thread resumed.
>>63464029
>trying this hard for literally nothing
More movies pls.
>>63464105
The irony is not lost on me there.
>>63464082
What are you even doing? Listing off movies which can be googled, are you that desperate for attention?
>>63464173
You're a fun autist I'll give ya that.
Anyways, movies?
>>63464229
>implying
>>63462233
any good indonesian films other than the two raid films and merantau?
>>63464532
You know that all these movies you are posting were created when South Korea had heavy censorship? You are literally posting movies on the same calibre as North Korean propaganda, good job.
>>63459883
Pic unrelated right?

the bad was my fav character

>>63466360
It was great, pity about the forgettable ending though, I think they were worried about it being too similar to TGTBTU.
>>63466361
gotta love the asians trying to do the rugged look with just a bunch of peach fuzz around their lips and chin.
Memory of murder.
You can stop after that because there's no better movie.
