I thought it did really well at conveying fear. Like the SWAT team members faces when they were putting their lives on the line for a meager salary.... pretty realistic I think.
It's just a nice flick aimed to the fedora audience.
Gary Oldman overacted so much that it feel cringy. Overall enjoyable movie though.

What kind of Leon thread is this?
I watched it for the first time the other day (I posted a thread but it just got one "hershlag" reply). I liked it quite a lot, it was cozy in a way films rarely are anymore. Small scale. Plus it looked really nice too. I think people who only listen to vinyl are faggots, but watching it couldn't help think "man, film is so much better than digital"
The way the camera leered over young Portman and how she was constantly trying to get Leon to fuck her was a bit weird and uncomfortable for me, though. I don't think that's just the modern 2010s sensibilities in me talking, I'm surprised Besson wasn't harassed as a pedophile in the 90s. What struck me was how easily this seediness could have been edited out from the movie.
