What is the s l o w e s t film you've ever seen?
Satantango
Bela Tarr is like cheating 2bh
>>63451545
Jauja. Liked it but damn.
Felt like an eternity.
Out 1 :^)
Forrest Gump
Also To The Wonder. My least favorite Malick, a slog with 0 payoff.
>>63451687
i'd say nostalghia might beat this.
>>63451687
Bullshit. You were just playing on your phone while it ran in the background.
>>63451749
Oh come ON. It literally has a 5 minute long scene of cars on freeways for NO GODDAMN REASON except literally for Tarkovsky to justify the expense of filming scenes in Tokyo. He straight admits that shit.
>>63451749
>You were just playing on your phone while it ran in the background.
Not him, but damn. This is a terrible habit I have.
Kill me before I try revisiting it because of the cast
>>63451784
And like you said it's ONLY 5 minutes. The movie is psychologically absorbing. It's not explosion to be sure, but there's certainly interesting thing going on.
>>63451795
I do too tbph family
I hate this fucking movie.
GIANT.
>>63451900
WHALE
>>63451749
At first I thought this was a really bizarre thing to accuse someone of, but I guess not upon seeing other responses. I'm not that well-versed in art films, so it's not really that outrageous that I'd find a Tarkovsky film to be slow. I still enjoyed it as I did with his other works that I've seen.
>>63451575
Damnation feels slower
>>63451895
Not slow in the least. Do you literally not know what the word SLOW means?
>>63451887
I've taken to leaving my phone outside of my room to stop the urge. Not eating anything helps too.
>>63451937
Nah I get it. Glad you liked it. And yeah at first, after being raised on Hollywood movies artsy shit feels like homework.
>>63451545
Satantango
>>63452008
Yeah it takes discipline to leave it alone. I guess that's why I love going to the theater because you literally have to focus on the movie or get shot (amerifat).
Valhalla rising
>>63451722
Hush, child.
>>63451952
depends on how you define slow mate
I find Phantom Menace a far, far slower movie than Satantango because Satantango is constantly visually arresting and filled with a lot of laughs. Phantom Menace on the other hand consists of obscenely drawn out scenes of extraordinarily boring/incomprehensible dialog.
>>63452087
>it takes discipline to leave it alone
jesus christ you guys are sad
That one about two moron Americans hiking through Georgia and then a guy with a gun points it at them and the guy shoves the chick in front of himself because he's scared and then they're passive aggressive for two hours.
>>63452149
Looks like we got an alpha male here posting on /tv/, he just came here for the first time today and in no way has a fucking Internet addiction. Fuck off you lying cvck. Nobody knows who you are here and there's nobody to impress.
>>63451545
Slow cinema Masterpiece :
All films of bella tarr
Films of lav diaz
Hard to be a god
Stalker and solaris
>>63452149
Addiction comes in many forms. I can go hiking without glancing at my phone once, but when it comes to watching a very s l o w movie, I often feel like going online.
>>63452268
if you can't get through a movie without looking at your phone then something is wrong with you
>>63452118
Nah. You're just arguing which is the better film. Lazer swords and spaceship battles aren't slow no matter what mental gymnastics you use. Shitty movies but not slow.
>>63452325
>then something is wrong with you
More like the medium is wrong, these people should stick to video-games, they don't want film, they just want cheap entertainment
>>63452325
I can do it, I just said it takes discipline.
>>63452344
Not him, but I think slowness can also be defined as how well a film captures and keeps one's attention. Ozu's films may be called slow by some, but I can't look away from there.
>>63451731
That's incredibly far from the truth. Nostalghia has much more to it senpai
>>63452374
r/truefilm
this boring piece of shit
>>63452470
r/movies
>>63452449
it's not that i didn't think so, i get its supposed to be an emotional experience and reflects the directors alienation from russia but i just couldn't fully get into it, i aint saying its bad by any means with how its slow, just couldn't fully BE the nostalgia man he wants me to be
>>63452431
I don't think "slow" is opened to interpretation. If a critic is writing a review and they use that word then you know they mean something like Tarkovski not Star Wars. Even a capeshit fan instinctively knows what this means. You've just gotten it twisted in your head.
>>63452495
kek'd
>>63451795
>>63451887
>attention spans so short, you can't even watch a movie without being on your phone
Kill yourselves
>>63452594
I was diagnosed with ADD before I even used a computer regularly. How do you think frequent, every day computer use affected that? There's nothing wrong with getting sidetracked while watching a movie when you're surrounded by distractions.
Nobuo Nakagawa's last movie, "The Living Koheiji", is about 80 minutes long but feels like two hours minimum. Nonexistent pacing but it's a great film, the slowness doesn't detract from it.
>>63452594
What if I literally killed myself because of your thoughtless post, faggot
>>63452261
Deliverance?
No country for old men
>>63453635
What the fuck are you on about? That film had excellent pacing.
Essential Slow Core:
Syndromes and a Century
Solaris
Stalker
Nostalghia
The Sacrifice
Like Someone In Love
The Wind Will Carry Us
2010: A Space Odyssey
There Will Be Blood
The Master
What else should be added to this list?
>>63451545
I guess "Corridor" by Sharunas Bartas might be the slowest.
>>63452742
Then I would be glad, lad
S l o w d o w n n i g g a
>>63451545
any shit written and directed by Terrence Malick
>>63452495
They told me to go back to reddit, but after all this time, Ray, only now do I realize I'm from fucking 9gag
>>63451575
is it worth the 7 hours?
>>63452261
Loneliest Planet, right? I enjoyed it.
All these fags not posting Tsai MIng Liang. Jesus Christ one of his films is a monk literally walking in super slow motion.
>>63452476
one of Antonioni's weakest movies, I have no idea why it's so popular
>>63455142
I haven't seen much from him. That closing 15 minute static shot in Stray Dogs is fucking amazing though. But yeah, he seems like a good choice for this category.
>>63455142
He's made at least 6 of those. And Goodbye Dragon Inn is the longest film with a short running time I've ever seen
>>63451545
not the slowest but Damnation is a wonderful film
Please, this is piece of garbage right here felt like 5 hours, its literally walking: the movie.
It was the worst film ive ever seen, I would rather watch Epic movie 2 times in a row, thats how hard it sucks.
Dont believe me? only one way to know.
This shit:

>>63455236
please be bait
>>63455181
>>63455208
Chantal Akerman also made some SLOWWW films. Jeanne Dielman 1080 rue de commerce Bruxelles has only a handful of exclusively static shots and plays out pretty much in real time for the 3'15" runtime
>>63455387
Good choice
I'd also mention Van Sant's death trilogy, especially Gerry. Gerry has several shots in which very little occurs that last about 7-8 minutes.
>>63455357
I wish, nothing fucking happened, I get that the cop had to follow the kid around but what the hell man, like a 10 minute shot of the dude smoking leaning on a post.
Unless there's like some occult message in the scenes or some shit.
I wish it was fucking bait.
>>63455387
>plays out pretty much in real time
I think you missed something...
-literally anything by tartovsky
CMON WHEN DOES THE ACTION START
MY CRAB LEGS ARE GETTING COLD
AND I'M ALMOST ALL DRY FROM MY SHOWER
>3 hours and 15 minutes of people talking indoors
pretty much all the pretentious boring artsy shit i had to watch for my film class desu
pic related
>>63455470
>315
Is this the acclaimed prequel to 317 UNO FARTO?
I heard this is were they show you where the first farto came from.
>>63454866
It's worth 7 more tbqh famalamadingdong
>>63455493
Confirmed for moronic redditor unless trolling in which case 2/10 for getting me to reply.
>>63452091
Never found this slow. There's always something to look at while nothing's being said. This is a movie that definitely could have dragged on, but it's quite short so it didn't get a chance to
>>63455419
Which is what exactly? I said most of the film is shown in real time, which it is, not that there aren't edits.
>>63455236
Haven't seen that but it reminded be of Once Upon a Time in Anatolia. Great slow movie
>>63455313
If you scroll your mouse over the timebar at the bottom you can watch the whole film in 5 seconds
>>63452091
This.
When shit happens it happens fast as fuck and then you're stuck waiting another 40 minutes for the next thing to happen to advance the story
>>63455387
Je tu il elle is best Akerman desu senpai
>>63455688That's exactly what I did.
>>63453739
Never thought There Will Be Blood was slow. It was long but the pacing was excellent
Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives
What a complete piece of shit and waste of time.
andrei rublev
>>63452476
That's a great movie. I think it really depends on how you're feeling or your mindset though. I had no idea Tati made little physical comedy movies and thought it was going to be a bit more talky. Took me about 20 minutes to realise what I was in for.
>>63456119
I'm not saying the pacing was bad, but I do think it was slow.
