Why isn't Wedge Antilles given a medal after the Battle of Yavin?
He flew the Death Star mission. He made the trench run. He covered Luke up until his X-Wing got shot up.
But then at the end, he got snubbed while Han Solo and Luke got medals.
What gives?

I noticed he gets a handshake from Luke, and a hug from Chewbacca, on my most recent rewatch of Jedi. Maybe him and Chewbacca hugging was a deliberate choice since they are both snubbed in the first movie.
Btw Wedge was going to be in the new movies but the original actor wanted more money than Disney was offering. Too bad.

In a deleted scene (I think that was restored for the special editions but I haven't watched them in years) Red Leader says he fought alongside Anakin in the Clone Wars and assumes Luke is just as good of a pilot as he was. Biggs probably vouched for Luke as well.
