The thing that Hicks does that makes me laugh the most is his gun shot sound. It's so loud and intense that it shocks the audience for a second and there's always an awkward moment of silence right afterward.

He was a great comedian. A lot of his politics make me cringe too and I certainly don't agree with lots of things he said, but he was very funny when he was on. One of his biggest problems was that he was passionate to the point where he was bad at making angry comedy. Some guys can channel anger and still be funny, but he would just get way too pissed off and start screaming insults at the crowd, and that could be a real turnoff. He had a tendency to lose sight of the humor.
I admire that he took standup comedy seriously as an art form itself and didn't just try to use it as a springboard to get to television and movies. Even though his logical thought processes were a bit baffling and he carried a holier than thou attitude, I think his heart was in a good place. When he stopped preaching for five minutes to be funny, he could be as funny as anybody.
