I saw The Emissary in a replimat in Kendra Province yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in corporeal form, but I didn’t want to be a waste extractor and bother him and ask him for holographs or anything.
He said, “You're doing now, like oh?” and added "It's not linear."
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh, my child? huh, my child? huh, my child?” and swinging an imaginary baseball bat in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw his grace trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen spiced hasperats in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Your holiness, Bajor is outside of Federation space, so all items must be purchased with gold-pressed latinum” At first he kept pretending to be having a vision and not hearing her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the hasperats and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any tachyon infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each hasperat and put them in a bag and started to say the price, his eminence kept interrupting her by laughing really loudly.

I feel like this thread has given me a true breakthrough because this is truly /reddit/ the show because everyone on that website is obsessed with this show.
but also, it is a great show, and contains an equal amount of liberal/conservative values that can appeal to anyone on 4chan, especially because of its irreverent humor and (sometimes) great writing
reddit is a terrible website, but in a sense so is 4chan because we created those Scientology faggots that made 4chan look like a bunch of Guy Fawkes wearing autists four or five years ago.
/tv/ is my favorite board on 4chan, but it has an unfortunate overlap with reddit. I'm just (very) drunk and am realizing that this great board has more of a relation to reddit than any of us would like to admit, what's important is that we continue to remain extremely hostile to each other to keep our faggot asses in check

I was in a local healthy/expensive type supermarket here in Princeton, New Jersey (we have a lot of those) and I'm in line to buy some ham at the deli there. The lady asked me what kind, and I said "I have no fucking idea what different kinds of ham there are, lady" entirely too loudly and the guy behind me in line I hadn't noticed burst the hell up laughing.
I turn around. Avery Brooks.
He kinda half worms around me and hisses "Honey GLAZEd!" to the lady over the counter and I just kinda stare at him for a sec then smile and say thanks. I'm about to pay for it and he whispers "In THE FUTURE, we won't have money" and pays the check for it right there. I was astounded, it was so awesome that I did the only thing I could think of ... I stood still as he grabbed my ear. Once again he cracks up and asked me if I had any idea how long it had been since someone had let him do that. I said "a year?" he shouts "It's been an EXTRAORDINARY seven years, YOU gotta say!".
We ended up having coffee at a place across the street. Turns out he bought a house in Mercer, a really expensive county in NJ, and has been living there a while. We talked about everything that wasn't his career for a long time-- it's difficult to explain, it's hard to say how long-- before he had to take off because his deli stuff was gonna go bad. I shook his ear and said he made my year today. He exploded with laughter and beat my head in with a baseball bat. I looked up from the floor, my eyes covered in my own blood as I made out a blurry image of an orb being hoisted above his head. Through the ringing in my ears I couldn't hear his probably non-linear parting line regarding "the notion about I as in the context of we" before the orb came crashing down, ending my corporeal life.

Most main characters go through so much mind meddling, dimension hopping, imprisonment and so on they'd all probably have compromised mental health.
O'Brien gets special mention because he's as close to salt-of-the-earth as you get. He seems to take it all in stride. You don't write Picard shouldering his Borg/Flute-lifetime everyday, you just write Picard. Same for O'Brien; but he seems to have more issues dropped on him for his supporting role than any other. Sure, they all get buckets of horrifying occurrences, but they also seem to be the true best and brightest. O'Briend was a second rate TNG actor and a highly responsible noncomission Officer in DS9. His ratio is nuts.

I really don't get the Ro Laren waifuing shit. She' like, not even top 5 Bajor qts. She actually looks Romulan, and only Riker, not even Kirk, would stick it in dem ugly bitches.

Anyway, no it wasn't related, it's a whole different series.
He started jumping in the future at random. He witnessed the destruction of deep space nine and then they managed to "Control" the jumps.
Only that the controlled jumps caused a lot of radiation on him. Of course, he did it so many times trying to save the station that he died.

...But let me explain:
The Galaxy class Enterprise's design just rather perfectly described that ship's purpose:
That of a deep-space exploration vessel.
Its top-heaviness epitomised a sense of curiosity.
She didn't look like an aggressive ship – totally unlike the Sovereign class Enterprise – but she was still a sleek ship and the wide, forward-pointing nacelle struts indicate that this ship only SEEMED fragile but could actually pack quite a punch...
Well, you get the idea.
Just love the design.

perfect implementation of film grain.
The lighting on the upper part of the nacelles looks kinda off though.
Still better than the shit-tier CGI they used in S2 of TNG-R (pic related) and the whole of TOS-R
>>63427205
Enterprise JJ is still the second-largest Enterprise ever (after the Enterprise J).
>>63427285
They literally made that thing in two days and forced it into Enterprise.
Even the fucking Author hates it.
>>63427206
I can buy the D being so big, it went long distances and had families on it and shit, it was like a space station in its won right, but why was the E just as big? It was a battleship. I mean it was stretched out and not as tall but still pretty huge.
>>63427285
>literally a 2D saucer section

...Scott Bakula? Fuck, you got me there.
>>63427260
>>63427362
Dunno... The remastering work performed on S2 as a whole looked shitty.
They had finally managed to render the PERFECT Enterprise D CGI-model (with perfect lighting to boot) by the time they remastered S5 though (pic related).
Actually that CG-model is even better than the physical models since it incorporates both, the elegance and sleekness of the 6ft model and the crazy detail of the 4ft.
>>63427362
>>63427260
another possible answer as to WHY:
The lighting is just flat as fuck. Look at the deflector dish. That looks like one cheap-ass Adobe After Effects effect...
>>63427121

>>63427430
>Actually that CG-model is even better than the physical models since it incorporates both, the elegance and sleekness of the 6ft model and the crazy detail of the 4ft.
Shame how there's literally no use for it anymore.
>>63427430
that does indeed look awesome. why didn't they create that cgi model to begin with? and why don't they put that model into the old seasons now that they have it? couldn't they render those scenes again with the good model?
>>63427515
Definitely hope he gets a job at whatever company they hire to do the remastering on DS9.
>>63427430
which episode was this in the image? don't recall two Miranda classes ever showing up before.
>>63427564
>remastering on DS9
N E V E R going to happen.
TNG remastering didn't sell well enough.
>>63427430
>the elegance and sleekness of the 6ft model and the crazy detail of the 4ft.
wouldn't every size model have the same elegance and sleekness, since every model has the same proportions?
>>63427668
If I'm not mistaken, they had to remake the models to cut the budget a bit.
That's why the D on the first seasons looked sleek and cool and after the third(fourth?) season it started looking more detailed.
>>63427596
It's in a starship junkyard
>>63427668
You'd like to think so.
The 4ft Enterprise was chunkier looking compared to the 6ft. They hated using the 6ft becaue it was so huge and cumbersome and pretty much retired it in favour of the 4ft until Generations.
>>63427559
The funny thing is:
The CG-model itself wasn't even THAT bad. The real problem was that the company hired for TNG-R S2 had absolutely no idea on how to do lighting passes be it CG-models or phsysical models (pic related: Same CG-model in S3).
they also completely forgot to apply a bit of film grain here and there to make the CG shots fit into the rest of the footage.
>>63427668
nah, the 4ft model always had that overly thick saucer rim and looked overall more stocky.
>>63427775
you seem to know a lot about the enterprise d and the models. I have a question I always wondered about. I always wanted to lick the enterprise d. no other ship. now look, I'm not retarded. I'm not even sexually attracted to spaceships. It's just that I want to put the enterprise d in my mouth and lick it all over. why do you think that is? I mean what about the enterprise model makes me want to lick it.
>>63427559
>>63427868
Here's another example for that company's (HTV, I think it was called) ineptitude considering lighting, only this time with physical models.
>>63427868
>>63427965
also THIS
(the borg cube looks like a fucking grey cardboard cutout)
>>63427927
You're the one who would have to explain that to us. I don't think it would work the other way around.
>>63428042
There's a really bad one on Loud As A Whisper i think where the Ent-D is orbiting a planet and the hull looks white, the nacelle lights are dark and the planet is just a blur.
>>63428042
For a comparison: The (remastered) Enterprise-Borg face-off in "The Best of Both Worlds (part 1)" in S3.
Same recomposited elements. Albeit this time with proper lighting and well implemented use of film grain.
>>63428042
>>63428194
Well, fuck.
>>63428194
I don't know in what program they are doing any of this, but they basically forgot to set a light source so every model is uniformly lit?
>>63423358
>the episode where he is paranoid about the other crew acting weird before finding out he's a clone
Fuck, I forgot about that one. That episode was fucking fantastic.
>>63428321
The models are real, not CG
>>63425994
How the hell did Kim survive being spaced in STO? Was he in the 100 sexiest people list again?
>>63428321
Those are phsyical models. There's footage of the models an then like, five or so lighting passes for each (one only the windows, one only the deflector dish and warp nacelles, one of the outside lighting etc.)
What they did is that they basically brightened the footage up too much (digitally) while cleaning it up so that the different lighting passes became muddled and turned into one uniform mess.
And then, when they digitally recomposited the footage they thought that the digital cleanness of the scans with that total lack of film grain would look good.
Well, it didn't
