The whole show is frustrating imo. It's frustrating to see so much of this show as Superman's story except with Supergirl.
Clark/Kara grew up in a small town in the middle of nowhere (Granted Kara has scientist foster parents). Clark/Kara has a job at news outlet, Clark/Kara has a crush on one the coworkers, Clark/Kara has plucky nerdy pal that's more like a little brother than an equal.
A show that really defined the differences in how they grew up and how they approach being a hero would have been much better overall. Plus more time spent teaching the actors how to stage fight and respond to effects. Better effects too.
At least I would have preferred the Black guy to be her tech friend who she could still have a huge crush on. But it would be implied that they've worked together for sometime and maybe he does nice stuff for her occasionally that she reads to much into. And have the guy that plays the tech guy now be Jimmy and Ms Grant worked with him at the Bugle and new Jimmy was kind of a pushover but great at his job and secretly she gets a thrill out of snaking Perry's best photographer out from under him. And other than that you have basically the same show relationship wise.
