I mean, I do enjoy Psycho and all, but everything else I've seen from him just seems so, I don't know, a bit soulless to me for some reason.
>>
>soulless
I'd prefer the term sterile

aka clinical aka perfect

I love Hitchcock, but this guy's films are like nails on a chalkboard to me

Do you not enjoy the flicks of wes anderson?
>>
>>63404675
Didn't I just fucking say that?

Have you seen it, m8?

Hitchcock's films are boring as fuck, there's nothing suspenseful or creepy in any of his films besides Psycho. It makes me sick when modern thrillers that are actually good get compared to Hitchcock.

edit: 'alfred hitchcock presents' had some great episodes, i'm talking about his films though.
>>
David Lynch (objectively meaningless and boring wank, he admits it himself)
Quentin Tarantino (objectively aimed at 14 year olds)
>>
Rope was entertaining.
>>
>>63404700
What about Royal Tenenbaums?
>>
>>63405210
I enjoyed Lost Highway.

>Dr.Strangelove was boring for the first act
>Bored out of my mind on Dune

How do I stop being a pleb?
>>
I while I do get the hate for Hitchcock, I still find his movies really comfy, aswell as the stories and characters to be intriguing. But yeah, he is a bit overrated.
>>
If you don't enjoy movies by the most famous and well respected directors of their time you're literally a pleb, there's no other way to get around it, it's fine if it's not your cup of tea but you still thought it was good, but no "not getting it" is just a sign of being a fucking pleb
>>
>>63404711

>not enjoying day for night or 400 blows his most accesible and enjoyable films

pleb, opinion discarded

>>63405113

>not appreciating a film for more then suspense and realizing for his time he was an innovator

rear window was goat and pyscho was pushing it for its time, your opinions discarded

>>63405210

shit opinion on lynch and tarantino, i hate tarantinos fanbase and how much pulp fictions wanked over but going too far with your judgements m8

>>63405796

You just have bad tastes to not enjoy eclisse, notte or aventura, atleast red desert, shit taste go away

Rear Window is one of the few movies I would describe as 'perfect' and not mean it in a quantitative rating kind of way. I adore it though I can see why others would be put off by it.

Hitchcock's films are like David Gilmour's guitar solos, you either like them or dislike them but you'll look like a dumbass if you say they're technically bad.
>>
>>63405210
>David Lynch (objectively meaningless and boring wank, he admits it himself)
I'd be very interested to see the quote where Lynch describes his films as "meaningless and boring". Source?
>>
>>63406295
Le "something is popular and well known therefor it is good" meme. Not saying anything about hitchcock specifically, but if you rely on critical consensus to form your opinions you are the pleb.
>>
>>63403866
Hitchcock is the definition of comfyness to me.
>>
>>63406755
He admitted in the making of Inland Empire that he was winging it day to day, scene to scene.

I love early Lynch, but the more he opens his mouth, the less respect I have for him.
>>
>>63405210
>>63406870
Lynch is too stupid to understand his own genius. From the things he says it's obvious he is a simple idiot but he has a natural talent for filmmaking.
>>
>>63406881
>he is a simple idiot but he has a natural talent for filmmaking

Most of the time.
>>
>>63404665
he does okay "fairy-tale" type movies but the ironic following he has here makes me hate him
>>
John Cassavetes

I get what he's doing, he gets great performances out of actors but everything else is so bad and boring. it's the same reason I hate mumblecore. no style at all.
>>
Tarkovsky and Bergman for me. I see why they are revered, but I'm just not into it. I have similar feelings for Almodovar.
>>
I fucking hate French New Wave.

This. I've tried, and I have done half of their filmography, but I can't.
I enjoyed NCFOM though, but not the rest.
>>
>>63406526
I thought vertigo was a much better film than rear window, but it might be because I'm not a big fan of single location films.
>>
>>63407312
I sat through 'Barton Fink' with a girl that another girl wanted to hook me up with. The fact that I am gay was unbeknown to my matchmaker so it was fucking awkward.

What a morbid horrendous cultural discharge.

Try "The Lodger".

Also, pic related to topic. Can't do it.
>>
>>63407241
I don't know why, but I'm not able to get into the Coen mood. I mean, they are okay films, but only Inside Llewyn Davis was actually an enjoyable view for me.
