Blink is probably the most overrated of the new series. Did you enjoy it because of the plot holes or because of the lack of the Doctor?

Only good thing this series (besides Capaldi of course) was Achildr. An interesting concept.

The rest was just Moffat standard bullshit. Hope the low ratings will get him fired.
>>
>>63377823
Clara went back to her job as an English teacher, cherishing her memories with the Doctor. Ashildr saw the opportunity and stole the Gallifreyean TARDIS. The Doctor remains oblivious to the identity of the waitress.
>>
>>63377898
We should invent companions for Grant, McGann and Hurt.
>>
>>63377823
Clara says that maybe things you've forgotten become songs.

It's revealed that the diner is actually the new TARDIS, though the Doctor doesn't see it, and it disappears with Clara and Me. Me says that the new TARDIS is stuck looking like the diner on the outside, and Clara says they need to head back to the Time Lords "eventually" so that she can die.

The Doctor meanwhile sees that they left his TARDIS there. The front is covered in painted flowers and a picture of Clara's face, but he ignores it and goes inside where he finds the blackboard that says "run you clever boy and be a Doctor." So he puts on his velvet coat again, gets a new screwdriver, and sets off, burning off the flowers and Clara's face art as the TARDIS leaves.

The Diner TARDIS and the Doctor's TARDIS pass each other. The end.

Yes. Execution is always terrible with Moffat.

Hype stuff like "the doctors real name" or "hybrid" and then just drops it.

No one can ever die or even make a real sacrifice. Like Clara is going to die one day, just like anyone else, but she can chose when to visit that time. Same with every other companion, just some shit about they or the doctor forget that they exists.

Even Gallifrey was resurrected by timey-wimey-magic. No darkness or sadness ever. No real losses, everything is utterly pointless in the end.
>>
10 makes a big deal out of regeneration as literal death of a person.

12 casually shoots someone and makes them regenerate.

Watching The Nerdists' recap of the episode, I'm getting the impression that this is probably not the case. The two women during the recap were gushing about Capaldi being incredibly hot, and equally as gushing about the prospect of a female Doctor.

Some jargon about "how empowering," "it's about the soul of the character, not their body," and "give us Hayley Atwell or River!" They also couldn't shut up about the scene of the general regenning, something about how "badass" it is to see a woman take on the role of a Time Lord.

One of the guys there was funny and said that we've seen Time Ladies before Missy, named off a bunch, and then basically told the girls they were retarded for thinking it hasn't happened before. But then he failed the test because he talked about how great a female Doctor would be too.

Moffat is absolutely pandering to the tumblr crowd still. It's the chief audience of the show. I'm shocked there are even old fans that still watch it tbqh senpai.

It's weird to think that now her and Clara are potentially anywhere in the Doctor's time stream, protecting companions. I mean, Moffat really did cover up the plothole of the Clara echoes no longer existing by giving her a TARDIS. Now it makes sense that Ashildr will also be popping around helping Jamie, Zoe, Sarah Jane, Amy, Tegan... but not Adric or Peri, because fuck them. That's a fixed point. Can't save our companions from death beacuse those are fixed points and would fuck up the time stream!

>can you explain the backstory of Rassilon?
The founder of Time Lord society. He invented time travel, along with his buddy Omega and another guy. He led the Time Lords into war with vampires and other baddies in the ancient times.
>Is he a baddie?
More or less. He only got one fleeting appearance in the classic series, in the 1983 story The Five Doctors, and it was left a bit ambiguous how much of a negative figure he was.
After that, he appeared in some audio plays featuring Paul McGann, and he was most definitely a baddie in those.
>Why is he in control of Gallifrey?
It's not really clear. The most logical speculation seems to be that the Time Lords resurrected him to led them once again in the Time War.
>And if the Doctor is Lord President, what the fuck is Rassilon doing in his place?
The Doctor was removed from office in the 1986 story The Trial of a Time Lord.
The last thing we knew before the Time War was that the Doctor's friend Romana had become president, according to the Seventh Doctor books. Davies sort of confirmed that she was president when the Time War started. No idea what happened to her after that.

>chicks wanting Hayley Atwell

So they want their first female Doctor who be a young, hot thing that will probably go around making out with lots of handsome male companions?

Nice priorities, how empowering. Much better than an older actress who could actually have stories written around her character, rather than her tits.

Seriously, you'd think as a young progressive girl you'd maybe want an older woman who won't be making out/flirting with male companions 24/7, but these bitches still can't relate to anything that isn't an attractive young person, like everyone who dropped Doctor Who because they couldn't relate to Capaldi as an older man.

>>

Do you wonder if Moffat made "Clara the most important companion ever" as a way to write in 12 being more accepting of potentially becoming female the next regen?

Consider this:
>11 takes on 12's face from Cacelius because he needed to remember he had to save people
>10 becomes 11 because he needs to be young and gallant again
>9 becomes 10 because 10 is young and attractive, the type of man that will make Rose fulfilled because 9 was in love with Rose
>War becomes 9 because of angst and old age
>8 becomes War because he has to fight
>...and so on...

I'm seriously starting to think that we will see a female Doctor next, and the rationale will be something like "Clara showed me what it takes. I need to remember how great she was. I needed to become more like her. Someone who cares."

I will fucking throw money down on this I'm so convinced at this point

Nail on the head.

That specific audience wants to live vicariously through the Doctor, whether it's AS the Doctor or as his companion. They wouldn't be able to handle someone like Helen Mirren in the role.

I don't know why any Time Lord that's spent hundreds of years as a man would suddenly want to jump feet first into being a woman.

I just don't think there's any bulletproof justification for it, literally every argument I've seen for Capaldi turning into a chick has been flimsy. Mostly for the simple reason that it doesn't "really" change all that much if he's a woman. I mean will having tits make it easier to fight living suns, or something?

>>63378770
tl;Dr Rassilon was the original Lord President, who invented time travel, created the Eye of Harmony, invented regeneration, and created all sorts of Time Lord Super Science artifacts, etc. Or maybe Omega did that and Rassilon just took the credit.

Either way, he was also a paranoid and xenophobic asshole who exterminated the vampires just because he didn't like them, and manipulated the flow of events to make sure that most life that evolved throughout the universe would conform to Gallifreyan norms (i.e. look humanoid).

But the Time Lords all treat him like a god since he pretty much founded their entire civilization. He's meant to be long dead, and interred in a tomb on Gallifrey, but in the Eighth Doctor audio series he comes back and the last we saw of him he was trapped in a pocket universe where time is a moebius loop, which he created to imprison a species that he didn't like, along with an anti-time entity. Obviously the Time Lords brought him back to lead them in the war.

Also the Doctor was only the President very briefly, because he ran away both times rather than take up his office. Romana, one of his former companions, was President the last we saw before the Time War.

Donald's Rassilon was only there to further the Doctor's plan to revive Clara.

The ENTIRETY of Gallifrey in this episode only existed to cater to the whims of the general audience who adore Clara. Moffat shouldn't of catered to them.

The Doctor should've used some BS to turn Clara into a Time Lord. She then regenerates within the span of a heartbeat - nullifying the causality of her death. (She's supposed to die as a human, not as a Time Lady). So she's free.

The Doctor then gives NuClara the stole TARDIS to fuck off with. He then "deals" with Rassilon and the High Council instead of banning them.

The rest of the episode is a 45-minute long argument between the Doctor and Rassilon as they try to come to terms. You can bring in Missy and any other Time Lords who should be alive. It ends with the Doctor somehow reforming the established rules of Time Lord society, then he leaves with Gallifrey returned to the normal universe.

>The Master became Missy, and the Doctor didn't bat an eye. Actually, nobody really did. The fanbase ate it up.
>Talk this season about "hybrids" and "changing roles," though honestly it's been things like "friends becoming enemies" and "warriors joining together." We did get Zygons that were genderfluid, however, and Maisie Williams's character was able to pass as male as she grew older through time
>Missy jokes about being friends with the Doctor since "he was a little girl," and then won't admit whether she was lying or not
>When 12 uses regen energy on the Daleks, he says that it was probably "going to cost him a leg or something" down the line. Third leg is British slang for penis.
>When 11 met his Tardis in human form, he talked about the Corsair being a Time Lord who freely swapped sexes at will for fun, implying that it's something all Time Lords can casually do
>Clara has been said to be turning into the Doctor
>We also have seen the Doctor become increasingly more comfortable with genderfluidity, liberal sexual roles, etc. as the audience has become more comfortable with. Admittedly, this may be the writers just reflecting the times in their writing, but it's something worth noting
>The 50th dropped that the Doctor had "many, many regenerations" to come
>We know that Time Lord biology is kind of fucked up, and that even though the "looms" aren't canon the show never really says that Time Lords have sex the way humans do nor do even need two sexes NOR do they need to even resemble humans at all (see Romana II's regenerations in 4th Doctor era)
>Moffat wrote the Red Nose Day special, "Curse of the Fatal Death," where the Doctor's final regeneration IS a woman

Aspects of her personality, yes. Control freak, "teacher," takes risk.. but still the Doctor. With tits. ...yeah...

The only winning combination for a female Doctor is as follows:
>played by moderately attractive actress in her '40s, maaaaybe mid to late '30s
>brunette, darker features, aristocratic British accent
>dresses in equestrian clothing with a scarf, jacket, riding boots, khakis, and occasional hat (pic related)
>alt outfits would include a peacoat with scarf and maybe a hat/tie/vest combo that channels Annie Hall or Romana
>has an Agent Scully like personality where she is constantly questioning things and very skeptical, has a detective's approach to scenarios
>very asexual and put off by the advances of others
>very judgmental of others and has a low opinion of her enemies/mankind (like 9 and 4)
>not afraid to shove it to her companions either
>companion one is a brash young male, 20's, maybe non-white, who is a cop or something like it from an earlier decade ('70s?), follows Doctor's orders without question and gets into scuffles a lot
>companion two is a stuffy, prudish woman, 20's, who is something like a teacher, librarian, or bohemian artist from a future time period and another planet, a bit of a bleeding heart who can't get past her insecurities and clashes with the Doctor on morals often
>Doctor's quirks include playing croquet, being able to talk to animals, and newfound interests in sewing, gradening and wearing funny hats
>loves to eat tea biscuits and has a thing for classic movies, thinks highly of the "golden age of hollywood", makes quips that she "knew the Hepburns" and "Casablanca? Oh, it's real. I was there!"
>TARDIS console is basically a burgundy version of 12's, bookshelves now joined by grandfather clocks and antiques, gold leaf ivy pattern on walls
>artist companion adds mannequins, easels, and some artsy flair
>TARDIS constantly questioning this Doctor's "legitimacy" and getting jealous they are now female

Just being devil advocate there, you could think of all sorts of bullshit if you want.
Say, Clara grabed Other by the ankle, and other children, well, there were children in pre-Rassilon era an curse is lifted by the end of "Lungbarrow"

Nah, that's pretty tumblr, m8.

Come back when you get that multiculti dick out of your ass, Ahmed.
>>
In my head canon, the Doctor didn't forget Clara. And he'll remember her at Christmas anyway.

Don't fight it. You'll just feel more pain.
Instead, focus on the possible good things that can come from it.

Sure the Doctor's not a guy anymore, but she's still gonna be white! We all know how Black people can trigger /who/.

Plus she'll get your dick hard constantly - so you don't have to be worried about getting bored during each episode!

As a few people were saying in the thread before, making the Doctor a sexy young woman is perhaps the worst choice you could make for your first female Doctor.

The idiots actually actually advocating Hayley Titwell have their heads in the sand just as much as the people they think they're so much more progressive than.

>women are vain whores who like to live vicariously through the character and don't like being reminded of their fleeting youth and fertility after all, so let's make the first female Doctor a hot, young thing with stonking great tits that'll probably have dalliances with attractive male companions.

No idea.
Why can't we just have a black, middle-aged, sexy, asian woman as the next Doctor and cover up all the demographics?
>>
I was a bit angry that BBC spoiler "Gallifrey" in the synopsis, but I would liked that episode more if I knew before it's going to be less about Gallifrey and more about Clara.
