Does the group believe that social inequity is natural, inevitable or desirable, y/n?
Does the group believe that social stratification is natural, inevitable, or desirable, y/n?
Does the group believe that opportunity is more important than outcome, y/n?
If you answered No to two or more of these questions, the odds are you're describing a left wing organization.
>>63374762
I'm not even left wing, i'm just laughing at the retarded ideas of Nazis being left wing
>>63374762
lol, hitler immediately sold out the majority of the german public sector to a few companies
>>63374740
Internally they were. The aim of National Socialism was for the German people to reach social and economic equity with each other. It was Socialism, but only for the Nation. Hence NatSoc.
The right-wing elements were mostly a matter of foreign policy, but for most of their history, the Nazis were peaceful, and were a pretty bog-standard progressive socialist government. They hated the Bolsheviks of course, but that was because the Bolsheviks believed in GLOBAL socialist revolution a'la Marx, which was retarded and didn't work. Socialism can only work in a homogenous society with high degrees of social accountability and civic pride, it falters and dies in a globalist environment.
>>63374837

I have lived in Poland through the 70's.
Communism is communism, it doesn't at all fit the modern definition of neither what's considered to be "left-wing" or "right-wing". It was "justfuckmyshitup-ism".
>>63374837
it was socialism in more of the Prussian Socialism sense, rather than the marxist sense. their understanding of what socialism is was completely different to the marxist sense.
>>63374919
>I have lived in Poland through the 70's
sure you did, senpai
National Socialism just shows the problem inherent in defining what's left and right wing. It's both proletarian, and hierarchical. Reactionary and progressive.
I'd call it right-wing since the core values are best categorized on the right, imo, but when you try to limit it to era-specific issues like "big vs small government" or "pro-life or eugenicist" etc. it gets silly.
>>63374761
>The US isn't a Republic.
wut m8
>>63375000
I'd say the defining characteristic of right wing politics (at least in the American sense) is that of small government, which is the opposite of National Socialism
>>63375028
It's a democratic republic, if in the loosest definition.
>>63375028
We're an oligarchy, like every other modern state.
>>63375105
I don't think you know what that word means
>>63375054
Small government is associated with conservatism in America because it's an institution that they believe to be the classical model of the American republic and one worth conserving; ties in with the financial and so on beliefs of the American right.
But then you'd have those on the right, probably paleocons and libertarians, that would consider isolationist policy part of the small-government classicism of the American right, whereas neo-cons would be more expansionist in their foreign policy and so on.
I think it's useless to apply that kind of standard to 1930s Germany, when the tradition of small-government conservatism was never a big thing there. They were a former Empire reduced to a neutered democracy, the Right was concerned with restoring the military strength and hierarchy of the former Reich. Where the Nazis did depart from the other Right-wingers in the Weimar Republic was that the Nazis were not traditionalists nor reactionaries, and weren't interested in restoring the monarchy and so on. Hitler had a progressive vision of establishing a modernist Empire and so on.
/pol/ here. Nazism was neither left nor right. It was radical traditionalism, or radical centrism.
>>63375170
wew am I turning into Zizek
>>63375170
Yeah you're probably right, it's pretty useless to try and define everything through history as purely left or right wing
>>63375206
Third way
>>63374637
Well begginning with Stalin, the Soviet Union was pretty nationalist and socially conservative (though economically left wing). The modern Russian commies are full on traditionalist nationalistic /pol/acks.

>>63378048
I think the opinion you expressed is politically illiterate regardless of your qualifications. Where do you draw a distinction between left-wing politics and Soviet communism? And how was the Soviet state, which predates fascism as an ideology and movement, fascist?
>>63374387
Reddit would hate this thread
>>63378106
Fascism is described as following:
- Strong dislike of contemporary institutions
- Adoration of show of force and violence, directed at overthrowing the current order (tsarism anyone?)
- Authoritarian structure with one leader
- Political dictatorship
- Totalitarian state where the state controls everything
- Very nationalistic
- Fascism want total class equality
These are about 7 of the 10 markers that befit fascism. I'd say soviet russia was a fascist state, only they called themselves communists.
Just like North Korea call themselves a democratic state, while in actuality they are also fascist.
>>63378224
That's such an arbitrary list that can be applied to just about every authoritarian state that's ever existed. The only more contemporary characteristics are "nationalistic" and "class equity" which occur in pretty much every post-Enlightenment or modernist ideology anyway.
Fascism isn't just a synonym of authoritarianism, it's a little more complex than that.
>claim that nazism and socialism are right wing
>right wing is in major supporter of an imperialistic state with a strong military
Uhhhhhhhh...

>>63377938
He is extremely left wing. Especially in the graphic novel.
>>63374771
You're confused.
Something being a normative position and something being a natural outcome are completely different and not to be lumped in with each other. Do the strong naturally destroy the weak? Yes. This is why we create systems to combat the "state of nature", Thomas Hobbes, Leviathan, etc.
>>63378224
Could you put together a non-polemical list of characteristics? Love of violence? Dictatorship? Authoritarian? Surely fascists themselves don't think they're scary evil people?
>>63374625
Moore is left wing as fuck though
