They sort of fucked it up in the 2nd movie. the 1st and 3rd were amazing though. But for some reason in the 2nd his hair was lighter and more free flowing, just looked off.

Thats what shits me about cgi these days. Why did it suddenly become okay for the aim to be anything BUT photorealistic. For animated movies sure, have a stylised touch. But for any cgi that's added to films amoung live action, sets, actors it should always be the aim to be photorealistic. It's why the hobbit movies look terrible.

Heavy stylization doesn't have to be bad, see 300 or Scott Pilgrim. However really depends, 300 nor Scott Pilgrim did not try to be realistic. Videogame-tier shenanigans in otherwise realistic (for a fantasy) Hobbit were cringeworthy.
