I've just fucking noticed
In Series 8 and 9 the only episodes that've taken place in a historical setting are Robot of Sherwood and the Ashildr episodes
The Girl Who Died and the Woman Who Lived don't really count imo, there's something very pantomime about their settings, Vikings with horned helmets and an early modern English village entirely populated by Indians and Blacks.
Actually Robot of Sherwood was pretty panto as well but at least it wasn't hijacked by anything as daft as Ashildr.
