Hopefully. Western science-fiction cinema is weak as fuck. In true Japanese fashion nipponese tv and film producers absorbed everything one could possibly learn from us and then did it better.
American and British writers got the science-fiction ball rolling with works such as Starship Troopers, The Foundation and Childhood's End, then the Japs went and turned those ideas into kinography while America flounders around with capeshit and braindead movies about space-travel being a metaphor for love.
The best American science-fiction movies about Space travel are 2001, which is just an autist who somehow got hold of a budget, and Contact, which just feels like a knockoff of Royal Space Force.
Japan's movie industry is tiny compared the US but I think they're probably about on par in terms of science-fiction output. It's bullshit.
