>It's Roland Emmerich talking about rebooting Stargate with a trilogy as per his original vision
>>
>>63253617
when will that blasphemy happen? it's rumoured for a while.
>>
why's he so bitter
>>
Why do you guys hate the original movie so much?
>>
>>63255173
Because hes a god
>>
the original movie was his best work
>>
>>63253617
the original is a classic, way better than the cheesy shite that came later.
>>
Kurrt Russel played two of the best operators in movie history.
>>
I don't remember much about the film. What i do remember is that i felt like i was discovering a whole new universe when i saw it as a kid.
>>
>>63256746
three actually

it's too bad the other movie im referring to was directed by an ultra-hack, even though the movie itself is still criminally underrated..
>>
he better have david arnold doing the score
>>
>>63256847
Which 3?
>>
will he bring back god spader?
>>
>>63255213
It's a very good B movie, but autists hate it(or alternatively, hate the tv series, depending on the autist) because it has practically nothing in common with its the Stargate shows except the name and basic aesthetics
>>
Good!
The shows were laughable and squandered a fantastic concept.

Well stargate is not fiction so i'm down for a movie showing a fictional take on stargate. Pic related, it's my newly washed suit from work.
>>
>>63256910
yeah this, have the same hope for independence day, but it's obviously more important for stargate

>>63256948
no. they're starting from scratch and recasting everybody. i would however appreciate the old actors in smaller roles. like kurt russell could be the general now, or james spader could play new daniel's egyptology professor or something
>>
>>63255173
He's triggered that the cishetero shitlord didn't want his beautiful feminine penis in the crying game.
>>
>>63255173
Because the show was a thousand times better than any sequels he could have made and he knows it
>>
>>63256942
stargate, escape from, and soldier
>>
>>63257189
i really doubt that emmerich has seen more than one episode of SG-1
>>
Wasn't the whole point of this movie to prove Emmerich's claim that a high quality scifi movie could be done on a small budget? This "it was supposed to be a trilogy all along" thing sounds fishy to me, like the claim that Star Wars was always intended to have 18 episodes
>>
>>63257323
no that's actually true, i have a copy of the original script and it ends with "END PART ONE"
>>
What if he makes the movies in such a way that SG1 is canon but the last few seasons of SG1 (the awful ones) are not?
>>
ffs...

Roland is just a worse version of Michael Bay. Literally his "best movies" are only watchable because he casted people like Mel Gibson, will smith, Bill Pullman, and Goldblum to carry it

His only good movie was Universal soldier
>>
>>63257530
he won't, trust me
you'll be lucky to see ANYTHING introduced by SG-1, and if there is, it'll be due to studio pressure
>>
Anyone get the sense that Roland is just pissed that his mediocre movie has ben overshadowed by a TV show he had nothing to do with?
>>
>>63258061
This. Like, I didn't even know stargate was a movie till I looked at Kurt Russel's filmography. I meebr even watched the show, and all I can say is how did they get so many series from a mediocre movie?
>>
>>63258061
well, obviously
>>
>>63257981
At least Roland holds the camera steady so you can enjoy the spectacular visuals.

Somewhere in the Sony emails he says the sequel to 2012 will come after the next Stargate movie
>>
>>63258170
>2012 sequel

Jesus Christ no... That was the worst movie of the year in a year that had transformers 2
>>
>>63258061
It's probably less that and more like Ridley Scott's delusion that he can go back and redo all of his old movies better than before now that he has more resources at his disposal
>>
>>63258267
DUDE THE SCIENCE PARTICLES IN THE EARTH'S CORE ARE EXPLODING
>>
He wants a cash cow, and realistically he can't make another film set in the TV universe, there is way to much canon built up for the prospective audience.

If they reboot it, fine. I actually wouldn't mind it.

I do not want a sequel to the original film.
>>

Rebooting it after several hundred episodes of SG1 and Atlantis... a lot of potential for pissing people off.
>>
>>63259115

His death was pretty realistic and believable for someone with his personality profile. Meticulously covering all his bases so the heroes would be unable to thwart his plans, succeeding on that front, and then getting killed anyway because he just had to stick his dick in crazy. Same thing happens to great men all through history.

what i don't understand about the asgard, is, with all their tech, they couldn't just create a new species for thier minds to transfer into.

im sure that it is possible for them to make organic bodies from scratch, and even if it isn't a permanent solution, it would give them tens of thousands of years more to fix the problem
>>
>>63255213

I thought it was great.
>>
>>63260174
They tried that, they tried literally everything. But they realized that at some point it was their turn to go down while they still had a chance to have a say in it themselves rather than to rot away. So committing suicide was the only way to ensure their legacy.
>>
SGU > SGA > SG1
>>
>>63260174
you see, they are too smart for normal answers to problems
like with the projectile weapon thing against the replicators where they needed a stupid species to help them

They explained why they weren't able too. But partly like i said it was because they knew their time was due and wanted to commit suicide and leave their legacy to the tau'ri while they still had a saying in how they were gonna go. Their bodies were based on their old DNA, but it had degraded so much.

The Asgard killing themselves was lame, but the writers of the show ran out of time and had to find a way to end the show on a dramatic note I guess.

Also note that throughout the show the writers constantly had to introduce elements restricting the power of the Asgard. They are super intelligent, morally virtuous and extremely powerful allies. Thus anything in the show could easily be solved by just asking the Asgard for help. Hence the idea of the replicators and their slow death by cloning degeneracy.

Really though a civ as far along as Asgard could easily just upload their minds to synthetic bodies with no problem. They have clearly reached the stage of civilisation where they don't give a fuck about organic problems.
>>
>>63253617
I'm glad, the first movie was fantastic and original, then the TV shows ruined what the movie introduced with retarded and shitty 90's TV quality.

To be fair, for an Asgard to wield a gun he'd have to also build himself an exo-skeleton to make sure the recoil doesn't break his tiny little baby arms. So it's not as simple as making a rifle either.

I thought they refused that idea because it'd mean that they'd never have a chance at ascending? Honestly, that's what I hated most about Stargate. The whole ascending bullshit, and how it was tied to evolution all the time. At least don't tie the magic mumbo jumbo into an idea that there's a grand end-goal for evolution.
