My m8 gives this last episode of Fargo a 6/10 for "being filler" is he right?
>>63235138
Yeah, the plot advances a shit ton and a main character dies, so it's filler if you think about it.
You're friend is a dumbass.
>>63235138
seems like they moved all the interesting shit to the "please give us an emmy" episode and left this one to carry all the dead weight resolution stuff

Treading over ground we already saw with Ted's phone calls to the Dodds and Mike. More shows are doing this shit and it's an inexcusable offense with these 8-12 episode seasons.

Can somebody please make a webm of Dodd's demented face during his "Satan is a woman" speech? And maybe her randomly stabbing him in the chest, too. Fucking hilarious, the interactions between Dunst, Plemons and Donovan made this episode GOAT.
who /peggy/ here?
>>63237455
Hanzee operating the fuck out of the redneck bar and troopers was badass too. Why isn't there more Native crime movies?
was that movie that peggy was watching a real movie or did they just film that part for the show?
Was this "The Fly" of Fargo?
>>63237577
I'm pretty sure it was that Reagan movie Reagan was describing to Lou.
Can Adam Arkin just direct all television ever from now on? The last several episodes have been solidly movie-tier aesthetically; some stuff, like that opening shot this episode reminds me specifically of Danny Boyle, he loves using weird gimmick shots and graphics as one-time things and presenting violent and dark moments in a lighthearted (which is different from comedic) fashion.
>>63237615
No. Even if you think it was filler, it was still just overall more entertaining than The Fly.
>>63235138
your m8 sounds retarded.
>>63237624
oh shit didn't even notice that
>>63237615

Fucking great episode. I loved it desu senpai
why is everyone so mean to Hanzee, like whats the deal with the native american hate?
is because he is so creepy looking?

I found it very arousing, constance must have been soaking through the whole scene.
Do I need to watch the 1996 movie before starting this show? Will one thing spoil the other?

I thought they were both Looney Tune-esque situations in otherwise serious context.
>>63237909

They can all be enjoyed completely independently of one another, but you should probably watch the movie and show in release order.

Rian Johnson was the biggest director to work on the show. I don't think they would give him some throw away filler episode. Even if it was to save money, Vince clearly thought the episode was special.

Sure, Fargo the show on a whole is much less subtle than the Coens' films. Its the same character thematically though, man is pursued by this seemingly unstoppable monster who is just a man in the end
It didn't really do all that much, unless Peggy's actualization ends up being a major plot point. Most of what happened could have been pretty easily predicted based on what we saw from last week's episode, with the exception of the last 5 minutes. I can still appreciate it if it turns out to be important for Hanzee/Peggy's character development.
>Dodd's fucking face when Peggy stabbed him the first time.

Was a necessary change of pace. Not as good as recent episodes, but tied up some loose ends and set up things nicely.
OK there has been alot of debate between season 1 and 2 the past day. Im waiting to give my judgment after the season is over. But so far the scorecard stands for me Season 1 = Season 2
Season one pros:
Two incredibly talented hollywood actors in Freeman and Thornton acting their everloving asses off
Break out star Tolman pulling her weight to match the other two. (No pun intended)
Great quirky story with dark humor, action and suspense.
Great writing and directing. Landmark TV
Season 1 Cons:
Colin Hanks miscast
When it was not the Mavlo Vs Lester show it saged a bit. But the scenes with Tolman were good. 2 plots shoehorned in but dropped quickly were the Widow that Lester seduced and the Store owner. Both were not part of the main plot.
Somewhat anti climatic. Solverson nowhere to be seen in both Malvo and Lester climaxes only to hear the news on the phone
Story a bit jumpy. Into quirky characters only to be fodder such as Glenn Howerton and Key and Peele
Season 2 Pros: (So far)
Show is giving a clinic on how to do an ensemble cast. Everyone from the Major characters.( Dunst, Smart and Wilson ) to the minor ( Offerman, Danson, Meloti) are giving grade A performances with breakouts such as Woodbine, Sampson (bear) and Keller. Everyone is given their chance to shine.
Hell even Jeffrey Donovan is giving a great performance as Dodd. And Bruce Campbell nailed Reagan
Tight story. No filler all meat. Even with longer running times the episodes feel compact and compressed and make you wanting more. Nothing shoehorned in or filler. It runs like a long movie then a TV show. Every episode the time flies by.
The sense of detail in the show and cinematography is staggering. Its film quality.
Season 2 Cons:
Besides minor A listers there are really no stars or characters as captivating AS Malvo and Lester. That act was not topped
No real bad guy on par with Malvo or Lester. As good as Woodbine is he's no Malvo.
Too much of a slowburn of a season
>>63238555
Jesus christ
The whole point of his character is that he personifies, in part, the aggressively insecure masculine ego, as in the school-shooter "we used to be gorillas" (scientifically inaccurate, it's important to note)-type /pol/tard. He is only overcome when confronted with a man who has now been humbled and exerts violent power only in self-defence. The only people who don't fall under his spell are those like Molly who have no pretensions of greatness or lust for power. He survives for so long because he thrives on the society he lives in.
>tfw Dodd got burned

>>63238188

Colin Hanks was fine
Weakest point of season 1 imo was the overplayed 'main sheriff is a naive bumbling fool' cliché. I love Bob Odenkirk and he played it well, but it just got so old so fast. Too frustrating to watch yet another piece of media where the whole case could've been solved instantly if only the head chief listened.

but you're an idiot if you found any of that confusing
>>63243419
because it's better to focus on a few things than having fucking 5 minutes of everything
>>63243419
They chose to foreshadow the bar shooting and Ted's phone calls instead of showing them then talking about them after the fact. Switching the two around wouldn't necessarily have been better but it's an irritating plot structure.
>>63243419
No. Most of the episode takes place at the same time as the last episode. The had to split it up because the story split into fargo and sioux falls+ed/pegg.
airing the sioux falls part later makes more sense since the story is moving to sioux falls anyway , so theres more continuity.

They could have even alluded to it earlier on. Just have a small bit in a scene where Dodd treats Hanzee like shit or something. It's sort of implied that Dodd thinks slightly less of Hanzee before that cabin scene, but they could have made it more obvious.
I don't know. Maybe making it less obvious was a part of their plan. Or maybe something got cut out of the script.

Peggy/Dunst was great this episode.
yeah it was, it filled in a lot of plot but why does that make it only a 6/10?
>scared, but also an erection
The whole fucking show is filler

Scaroused
>slightly off Kirsten will never tie you up and force you to behave properly and feed you

Hasn't the massacre been in full swing since the fight between the Gerhardts and Kansas City in the woods?

There is a whole seperate massacre near the end of the series.
>>63235138
Only part of this episode that could be classified as filler is the one that retells the previous episode's events from a different perspective. And since that goes on for less than 15 minutes of a 60 minute episode - I'm gonna say your friend isn't right.
>>63249966
In season 1 Lou did specify it was a massacre IN Sioux Falls, so I imagine that doesn't count the mobwar in the woods

Is Meth Damon wearing a fat suit, or has he porked out for real?

Yea he burns his clothes in ep 2 and he's a biggy piggy

Porked out for real, just like Dunst, he bulked for Black Mass and kept it.
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/fargos-jesse-plemons-his-weight-834586
>How did keeping the weight you gained for Black Mass help inform Ed's character?
>One of the first questions I had for Noah about the script was about some of his words describing Ed. He described him as being almost like a cow. I was slightly confused by that and wanted to hear exactly what he meant by that. He said that, in the animal kingdom, that's where Ed would fall. ... I got to visit a few butcher shops in Austin and one in L.A., and if you're working with meat and eating a lot of meat, you might be [overweight]. It was something I was thinking about, and he has moments later on, where I realized a male cow is a bull. So there still are these primal reactions when it comes to protecting what's yours. But at his core, he's a peaceful guy who just wants to find a nice pasture and spend all his days there.
>There's a great painting Noah had made for the house — it's right above the fireplace. It's three cows grazing in a nice, idyllic landscape with a little country house in the distance. For some reason, when I was on set, I found myself zoning out and staring at that painting. ... It's hard to explain exactly what the weight did. Obviously it affects how I moved. No clothes fit — I could wear like two pairs of pants and four shirts.
Oh my fucking god, I had no idea cancerfu was the sexy baby lady from 30 Rock.
>>63250142
Pork and like 9 layers of shirts, it's cold up here
This series did what True Detective couldn't. Make a season 2 that's as good as season 1.
At which point do the careers of Matt & Meth Damon intersect, & Meth is the more famous Damon?
No camfu. Shit episode. This whole season started great, but when right down the crapper desu.

>It's sort of implied
For real? That's how Dodd always talked to him.
>>63250368
The only times I can think of when it's implied is when Dodd is talking to Bear and refers to Hanzee as "His man". Also Dodd's daughter refers to Hanzee as "the indian" which means that some Gerhardts don't respect him enough to call him by his name.
Are there any other examples that I'm missing?

Dodd being a son of a bitch to everyone at all times?
