You missed the point
>>
>>63213681
Watching her not succumb to letting Tony be some goon for her was far more satisfying tbqh.
>>
you mean how she never told tony about what happened? yeah that pissed me off also how they didn't even hook up once despite him trying for like 5 years
>>
I wish they would have showed it. Like she told him and then he went over and killed the guy, but then it flashes back to her in her office and it turns out it was just her imagining what would happen to him if he told her.
>>
>>63213681
Her decision was much more satisfying imo.
>>
>>63213681
>Its a Tony gets in her face and breathes heavily episode
>>
>>63213681
This is such a plebeian thing to say.

It was one the best finales to an episode in the whole series.
>>
>she would rather let her rapist free than let go of her morality by telling tony about it

retard, maybe she deserved it
>>
>>63213717
Yes this, at least there would have been some sort of viewer satisfaction whilst still maintaining the character arc
>>

i just typed a big paragraph as to why this wouldnt work in the show and it got deleted due to my poor keyboard skills but let me sum it up for you anyway: i was far from let down, very much the opposite.

It didn't bother me, as her character was a conflicted hypocrite. At least she had depth though, unlike the way females are portrayed as 2 dimensional 'super girl's these days.

Veronica Mars was so much more mature and of higher quality writing than Jessice Jones

then ill get the whole 'degenerate schtick'; although i wish i was stoned as fuck right now watching the sopranos. i get so comfy in that circumstance. makes me appreciate it everything so much more

listen here, fags

Building up the audience to believe Melfi would eventually turn into some kinda accomplice, or at least utilizing her connection with Tony, was mainly the biggest red herring of the entire show. Especially from the beginning.
Literally anyone else running the show at the time would have gone down this route (Melfi helping Tony figure out business deals and getting greedy) as it's fuckin predictable.

And that's what makes The Sopranos a top tier show.

Melfi never turns. She was in many respects the perspective through which all viewers saw Tony.
Studying, seeing through his eyes the many contrasting colors of modern America, and the behavior of it's ugliest painter.

So the conflict of her temptation in this scene is not only the largest peak in her arc, but also one of the most important moments for us the viewers.
It's the moment where we find ourselves rooting for absolute violence, "justice", eye for an eye.
We encourage Tony (the despicable anti-hero) to go kill/torture someone.

Melfi eventually ends up finding out that, despite her efforts to change Tony and validify her psychiatric career, everything was a waste of time.
She was only encouraging him all along, just as we were, thus booting him in the finale.
It's the exhaustion of her fascinations, her therapy and concern, and her ultimate sympathy for him.

But this is the first scene to catch us in the act, the same thin line Melfi dances all 6 seasons.
That we have seen too much; so much that we have gotten lost within everything. We don't know what right or wrong is anymore.
That the contexts in this American culture don't matter. That true justice is never found, and that we are no better than Tony.

Melfi is better than us, though; and we feel ashamed for wanting more at the end.

That's what makes this one of the best episode endings ever.

The objectively true answer.

>Svetlana will never tell you you're a good boy, drink you under the table, pet your hair and fuck you
>>
>>63213717
and in short, if you showed Tony doing any kind of violence to that man, it would have taken out that realization. The slap in the face The Sopranos gives us here is what makes this episode so great.
