First for Hell Bent will bring about a new age of shitposting.
Moffat has something in store for us that's gonna make us interested at the very least.
Brace yourselves /who, it's only just begun.

Do you think they fucked inside the TARDIS set?

Timelord Clara?
>As well as [REDACTED] there are other returnees too (you can see them in the picture gallery here) but mentioning them is not embargoed, because they’re clearly not considered similarly, “Oooooooh!”-worthy. Though one of them says a word that may have you going, “Oooooooh!” It begins with “B” and certainly makes someone close to the Doctor do a double-take.

Why's it always the showruiner who does the Christmas Special? It's not like they're usually momentously important in terms of ongoing story, so we could have any old writers doing them. Gareth Roberts Christmas episode could be fun for instance.

Actually how insanely useful would Time Lord Tech be in Real Life day-to-day shit?
>TARDIS to go literally anywhere and anywhen in creation. Has more rooms and devices than you know what to do with.
>Sonic Screwdriver can interface with and "hack" almost any type of system.

>>63200047
Well it kinda was, its amazing how much better it got durring the Moffat era, even with lower budget
>>63199985
He's a pretty chill guy. I think the show just depends too much on BBC in house writers due to them being reliable but generally unremarkable. Morrison already has several ideas he kept saved if he ever get the chance to do an episode,

Nah, Alan Moore is all about ceremonial magic.
Grant is about chaos magic, you know self-hypnosis type stuff.
Neither are actual nutcases.
Never heard anyone in the comics, video games or movie industry call him difficult. He's a surprisingly amicable guy for an eccentric.
Supposedly it's all practical stuff getting in the way of it happening.

>>63200089
Grant Morrison writing for Who immediately turns the series on its head.
Every other episode would be centered around some general concept as well as the multi-dimensional manifestation of said concept and idea.
He'd also create ruses so intricately crafted and intertwined with each other he'd make Moffat's head spin.
Under him, the Time Vortex, for example, would be retconned as the collective psychic projection of all sapient beings and their thought processes across all points in space and time.
The problem is - not every episode of Who needs to be that deep and drastic of an existential crisis.
Imagine if he were picked by Moffat to be the new Showrunner. And Moffat not returning his calls was a ruse to throw off suspicion.
>Inb4 Davros is reality's manifestation of the Doctor's xenophobic tendencies he repressed since childhood.
>Those tendencies which created Davros also compelled him to create the Daleks - a race of even more xenophobic purists.

>>63200541
Hello friend
>>63200366
That's true. It's one of the reasons why I love Moffat. The thing is if you try and shift the tone of Doctor Who to a more Metaphysical and Introspective journey then you experience burnout.
Moffat's wild ambitions are held in place by the stories of other writers. Moffat himself understands that you can't always up the stakes.
Morrison on hte other hand LIVES for this shit. At his core he's a man who wants to push the limits of conceptual ideas and stories to the absolute. This is why some of his stories are phenomenal.
However, I feel like Morrison would be the one writer who finally went too far regarding The Doctor. In his quest to create elaborate and truly mind-bending stories, Morrison would reshape the Doctor at his core.
He'd give more indications regarding the Doctor's past history and try to tie that into some overarching story which encompasses the entirety of all Space-Time.
He wouldn't just write a story with the Doctor - he'd write a story containing all 13 incarnations fighting against the representative of conceptual destruction at it's core in an attempt to save all of reality from impending Ontological Negation.
Hell, he'd bring back the Glory if he could.
>>63200541
oh shit I remember that
>>63200220
yep
Name one think you didn't like about every Doctor, if you absolutely can't leave it blank but try your hardest.
First - Arseholery, willingness to kill Caveman over NOTHING
Second -
Third -
Fourth - his episodes he couldn't give a fuck in.
Fifth - pacifism
Sixth - strangling his companions
Seventh - cartmel masterplan, trying to make him "far more than just another time lord".
Eighth - kissing companions and starting the most cancerous trend ever.
Ninth - flipping between jovial and last of my kind kill yourself, pick an emotion.
Tenth - pacifism again, but racked up a couple trillion notches, the mere sight of a gun causes him to listen to sound of silence on loop in the zero room for a week
Eleventh - Arm waggling, bow ties, acting like a child who's had too many colours.
Twelfth - dude scene, shit like that.
>>63200534
>Hitler himself was in the episode for not even two full minutes
>features prominently on the poster
>>63199543
She's disgusting, an insult to the doctor. He deserves much better.

>>63200727
moffats worst
>>63200652
Fourth - Mugged for the camera whenever he got bored or didn't like the other actors, which was often
Fifth - THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ANOTHER WAY
Sixth - A pompous asshole who never had the chance to mellow out
Seventh - Not a good actor and couldn't be taken seriously no matter how hard his stories tried
Eighth:
Ninth: Wasn't around long enough
Tenth: Painfully fake Britpop image, no subtlety to his acting
Eleventh: Too many catchphrases, too many "iconic" items. Felt like he was made to sell merchandise.
Twelth: He should regenerate next episode so he will go out on the highest possible note.

leaves out war - good man
1 - fluffs his lines
2 - I cant see more of him
3 - martial arts are unconvincing
4 - performance in his last series is meh
5 - bland, and costume is a bit too silly
6 - shouts too much, settles down of course, crap coat (although it grows on you)
7 - starts off as 2 rip-off & dem question marks
8 - not the best at being really sad or really angry
W - special guest doctor
9 - none-doctory costume
10 - too angsty and also smug
11 - too wacky
12 - he's getting memey
>>63200921
He hasn't yet.
>>63200594
>>63200594
He'd pull it off. If he didn't, then they wouldn't film the script. Morrison can work within set boundaries when he has no other choice.
Honestly a Morrison script is a guarantee of another great episode a season, other than the obligatory one per season Moffat mindgasm.
And you know Morrison's WHO would be a "the better angels of our nature" sort of character.
Which I also love. Everybody Lives!
In my mind it's a "Vincent And The Doctor-tier", guest writer episode.
>>63200857

I reject your reality and substitute my own. The War Doctor was caused entirely by Eccleston being overly principled, the entire staff have changed since 2005, yet he still refused to return.

I wonder if they could've recast the 9th Doctor.
find an actor that's similar to Eccelston.
maybe a young actor, perhaps he could've grown a beard to disguise his face to suspend disbelief,
Then that actor could do BF and cement his place as the new 9.
is this stupid?

That's because He knows retarded Whovians are gonna ask him that one question.
Even the BBC knows that, the more they feature Ecceleston (in Commercials and Promotional shit) the more people are gonna wonder "Why did he leave?" Not even RTD said why he left
>>63201302
Listen to The Kingmaker, if they want to bring 9 back for BF, they've already got a close soundalike in Stephen Beckett.
>>63201091
I like it.
11 was an old man in a kid's body.
12 is a kid in an old man's body.
Some times he has to be (look like) the old man, but when he doesn't have to he reverts to his true PUNK ROCK self.
Hell Capaldi played in a band called "The Bastards from Hell" (Later The Dream Boys..) when he was young.
Rebel Timelord and all that.
Also makes him slightly mercurial that he switches, slightly bi-polar.

The idea of Moffat and Morrison potentially co-writing an Episode (or entire Series) is making me feel conflicted. I want it, but I feel like no one else does.
>Series 10 starts with the Time Lords brought back into the universe.
>The Doctor has a rotating cast of companions, each with their own history and personal relation to him.
>After loosing Clara, The Doctor is too traumatized to fully commit to a single one. Hence why he cycles through them.
>Some generic evil presence is slowly unraveling The Doctor's Time Stream as a result of Gallifrey's freedom.
>This leads to an entire Series where the Doctor is constantly fighting Time Lord Victorious.
>Occasionally teams up with other Rogue Time Lords depending on the threat.
>As the Doctor's Time stream becomes more and more damaged, it slowly begins to throw his personal history out of sync.
>He has to travel through different points in his history to clean up the new enemies and disasters which are appearing at earlier points in his life, WITHOUT his earlier incarnations realizing what's going on, or seeing him.
>Things become more frantic as the Doctor tries harder and harder to keep his time line from falling apart.
>He snaps and Victorious assumes control.
>At this point, the episodes switch perspective, focusing on other rogue Time Lords.
>They all band together in a desperate attempt to continue to piece together the Time Line.
>They fight victorious at different parts of his own history, desperately trying to keep everything together.
>The Doctor eventually assumes control of himself again.
>The "mysterious presence" which caused the initial damage to begin with is revealed to be the Valeyard.
>After the Doctor received a new cycle of regenerations, and seeing the Doctor in a broken state due to Clara's death he formulated a plan to once again - steal his remaining regenerations.
>>63201339
He signed on for one series, that's all he has to say, then he moved on to other projects, the only reason people wonder why he left is because of how he dealt with it afterwards, for a good few years he refused to even talk about it and would walk out of interviews when asked, he caused this himself.
>>63201245
>two series
>only a handful of GOAT episodes
>should leave now
What?
>>63201302
People wont accept it, I think we still need to wait a couple decades before we get recasts of older doctors, unless technology have progressed to realer than life CGI.

>>63201513
>it's like he's playing a schizophrenia sufferer
I kinda agree but...
He usually just acts differently because he has different moods, like we all do. Wouldn't you act different at a party as opposed to if your best friend died? Don't you act differently around your friends than around your grandparents?
HOWEVER, you are right just not about the Hoodie/Suit's representing different personalities (those are just moods). Capaldi does play it split personality, he often has episodes where he's written as speaking to himself, he even some times mimics previous regenerations like they are there trapped in the same body arguing. Mummy On The Orient Express, Listen and of course Heaven Sent.
>>63201940
They make more sense than staring at metal stick and announcing what it scanned to advance the plot
>>63201940
Along with what the screwdriver does the have shown to actually have more practical uses. Like a video feed and then the shit they did in face the raven with the streets thing. I bet if they weren't sunglasses and just normal glasses like the tenth doctor would wear, reddit would LOVE them. "Haha he is being like le tenth doctor wearing glasses he doesn't need lol so funny callback to best doctor"
>>63201836
He would be getting paid and credited for those instances, using other actors and makeup/cgi to give the pretense it's him, is where it gets into he can sue you territory
I always wanted to write a fic series where the Valeyard keeps showing up to classic series doctors (or, at least, 6, 7, 8, and war) and each time he has a different explanation for his back story, but each one is basically the plot of a nuwho story with "and then I traveled back to steal my own regenerations". Like, "In a fit of pique, I cast my regeneration energy into my own severed hand, thus creating a metacrisis offshot of myself, contaminated with human biodata. In this form, now, I am unable to regenerate, and having lost the one precious thing I was willing to live forward, I've come back to steal my past regenerations muahaha," or "A future version of you was trapped on a tiny, insignificant world for centuries, and in an attempt to escape you tried to manifest a psychic projection of an abortive future regeneration into reality in order to aid yourself. Unfortunately for you, that psychic projection was the very malevolence inside us, the snickering voice that whispered to you in your dreams, and thus I was brought into physical being," stuff like that.

>>63201986
>>63202007
>>63201980
They have been quite resourceful with them so far so I applaud them on that front. Still think they should be used sparingly because Capaldi's eyes are one of his most expressive acting tools
>>63201980
>>63201940
Why are Fezes allowed but Shades aren't? I can understand not liking both but reddit lapped the fuck out of the fez and other bullshit. RIP Sunnies. I'm gonna kind of miss them.
>>63202047
but it also give an opportunity to angrily rip them off
>>63201929
I never said that was character development
>>63202052
Fezzes and bowties suck but shades are cool.
>>63202047
They are used quite sparingly. Usually like once an episode iirc, as soon as this new screwdriver comes though, the doctor is going to be back to scanning everything to fill his fucking pokedex and waving it around so they can sell the fucking toys. River coming back and the magic wand, Might as well just get Matt smith back.
>>63202052
Because they're too common and basic. The people who hate them prefer shit that "random" and "silly". These are the people who thought Capaldi would be using a spoon to fight enemies for more episodes.
>>63202052
It's because Capaldi looks older.
>>63202052
Because its not a "Sonic Fez" or a "Sonic Bowtie"
>>63201976
It's not Moffat or Gatiss, since they had both run shows in the past and thus were immune to geting ReTarDed, so I would guess... Matt Jones, since The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit is the only time he wrote for Doctor Who, and I've heard several times that it's basically a last minute ground-up rewrite by Davies.
this one was my favorite
>"I'm loosing more and more hope that the sonic sunglasses are a little gag. Seriously, they're such a stupid concept, and devastate decades of doctor who history."
>devastate decades of doctor who history
lmao wtf
>>63202107
Luckily Capaldi actually uses his screwdriver at a minimum compared to Smith.
>>63202137
Oh sorry I forgot to add contex.
That's a Moffat quote. He said he read RTD's cucumber script to cheer him up.
>>63202158
Yeah with Smiths old screwdriver. They have a new one now, Mark my words, that fucking things is going to get at least 60% screen time each episode.
What other gadget would be cool to give 12?
>inb4 guitar
no, something useful.
I think he should use the invisiwatch from The Caretaker more
>>63202173
If he beats River to death with it, i'm for them.
>>63202158
its been used really well except for maybe flatline although that wasn't even that bad imo.
>>63202173
i hope not. we'll see what happens I guess.
>>63202165
I dunno what Moffat's actual rewriting duties are like compared to Davies, but let's assume... eh... Thompson, that guy does a lot of "basic foundations that Moffat then has to come and build on" stuff.
>>63202173
I trust Capaldi. No need to give into fear.
while talking about screwdrivers one of my favorite little gags with capaldi was he was tinkering with something and he was using the sonic and then stopped using it and just switched to a normal screw driver

What did Capaldi mean by this during S8 interviews when he was asked why he didn't have a new sonic?
>Well I think we should side step the marketing opportunities. I don’t think we should be too focused in that direction"
Did he mean so parents wouldn't have to buy their kids a new one?

>>63202961
No Moffat shat out gold with Empty Child and Blink. This time Moffat shat out pure PLATINUM
>>63202926
I really have no idea why blinks considered such a masterpiece, I feel like I missed some massive dimension, people get transported back to the past and if they're lucky they see them one last time before they die, it's okay but not absolutely incredible.
I mean, maybe if they had "angel hunters" that specifically seemed out angels so they could go back in time to live with their eternal love it could be an interesting dynamic but as it stands it wasn't too cracking.
>>63200106

>>63203005
It's the scene with the video talking to Sally Sparrow that gets people. It's fucking ingenious.
ALSO
The Angels are some pretty great monsters. The way they are defeated is clever and the end montage that inspires a bit of paranoia is good.. and the bootstrap paradox with Sally giving The Doctor the transcripts is interesting. And the fact that it was so different, it being a doctor lite episode.
But I understand.. I never got why people rave about The Empty child.

How come the whole castle didn't crumble away from friction since the rooms were switched a popgarabazilion times?
>>63203838
No, it should be about the Doctor finding a way around his problems even if it is harder to face, even if it is longer and excruciating, even though it would be so easy just to give in he choose not to, he thought of a way to do it and had to think of it and come to terms with it one hundred and four billion times.
>>63203744
>10
>marrying River
No
>>63203897
Because it was designed to do that, and I will say if you can design a fucking rotating castle like that I am sure you're are good enough to make it stay together.
>>63203884
10 spent a whole year AWOL, it's not impossible to think he met river again in some undocumented story
>>63203726
The "sphere" of resetting or whatever has to end somewhere. That somewhere would presumably be the end of the "prison". The wall was the end of the prison, hence breaking out through it.. The shell would not reset, if it did it would not be a shell..
That's how I read it.. I can see how some might be annoyed by it. I however find it completely acceptable whether I have to fanwank it or just go with it in a poetic/metaphorical way.
>>63203880
So the Doctor never married River or learned his name? She married the Tesselecta in the S6 finale after all, and he didn't whisper his name then, just told her to look in the robot's eye.

Several things didn't reset. The Doctor's clothes were drying where he left them, the skulls didn't reset at all, and "Bird" only reset because that door let in a gust of wind. It can also be assumed that the other clues (The shovel, Clara's portrait, the weird dirt patch, "I am in 12") were set in place by previous Doctors, and remained over time.
>>63204163
Yep. Just like Matt Smith.
It is literally impossible to have a doctor who episode without plotholes. Pointing them out is equally retarded to trying to explain them. Just stick to pointing out major plot holes that ruin everything like Orson Pink.

>>63204215

>>63203838
Sure. We could call it regeneration.
If you want to think about it in away that helps.. The Doctor used his own body/energy/lifeforce to generate the new clones. Matter is made from energy. (Splitting the atom). The Doctor was simply taking his remaining energy and re-assembling it back into his own atoms. The blue-print.. in the teleporter.

Two -- Seems far too proper despite his "cosmic hobo" concept.
Three -- Bessie, Whomobile, general "Batman with Austin Powers fashion sense"-ness.
Four -- Kinda creepy overall, and Baker obviously stopped giving a shit sometimes.
Five -- Too nice, which made it even weirder when he tried to be clever or cutting.
Six -- Strangling his companions.
Seven -- Season 24.
Eight -- "HALF-HUMAN ON MY MOTHER'S SIDE"
Nine -- Forced to share the screen with farting aliens.

Yeah, okay, but what about after the Library and before he regenerates? She never said it was her first time meeting 10. In fact, she is under the impression that he recognizes her, which would be a weird assumption to make if she never interacted with a 10 that knew her.
>>63204513

12 doesn't wear a suit.
>You even gave me your screwdriver.
12 doesn't have a screwdriver, and sure as fuck doesn't use one that looks remotely like the one River's got in that story, which is clearly a modified version of 10's.
She's able to recognize 10 on sight. She's seen 10 before. Silence in the Library is the first time 10's met River, but not the other way around.
>>63204580

Honestly no one can say for sure but Moffat.
As far as I'm concerned the "area of reset" has to end somewhere. The entire universe doesn't reset obviously. Since the wall was the edge/end of the "prison" it makes sense that it would not reset. Maybe it was even the shell holding the whole reset-sphere together.
isn't it just implied in the minisode? is it actually confirmed? i havent seen it in years.

Steins;Gate establishes rules of time travel early and stays within them entirely for the duration of the series. This is difficult to do and rarely accomplished, Who has flubbed around it to the point where they don't care anymore (as they shouldn't, you can't run 50 years and do what a 24 episode series does). But he is correct. I always point to Steins;Gate as the example of time travel done right.

Surely it wasn't. The only things that wouldn't reset were things foreign to the castle. His skulls, his clothes, since we know the wall didn't reset it stands to reason that wall wasn't part of the closed energy loop.

Yes. The last episode was bloody outstanding, top 10 of all Who
>>63203175
Oh, so that's wy I felt like he was way better this time. He actually was.
I mean, not that I think he's doing a weak job, but this episode he really shone.
>>63204820
But Doctor Who has no rules for time travel. Only the Time Lords have actual rules, which they can break with unforeseen consequences.
>>63204635
Didn't know that.
>just watched it
>"You'll be the death of me."
>Eleven's face
Oh my god why am I tearing up over River.

Just start again with Face the Raven, all you need to know is
A) there's a legend about a hybrid that everyone's freaking out over
B) the Doctor accidentaly made Maisie Williams immortal

Mean to reply to >>63204806

A) Your taste is terrible.
B) Capaldi's like Eccleston. His best episodes are AMAZING, almost unbeatable. His bad episodes are AWFUL. Fortunately, he got more than one season, so he's had more than his share of great ones.
>>63205046
I only watched his first two episodes and disliked the feel of them immensely, so I don't think I have seen his best episodes yet (I would hope.)
>>63205005
>>63204904
If heaven sent and Face the Raven are good I will try and watch it again then, are there any other essential episodes?
>>63205185
>are there any other essential episodes?
Listen
Daily reminder the Southern were originally absolutely badass but had to be needed due to it being a children's show
>alright, so these aliens invade earth and hide amongst the population as important people, politicians, generals, etcetera
>how the fuck would they do that? To do that they'd need to look and talk exactly like current important people
>they wear their fucking skin
>holy shit, you can't do that, it's a show for 3 year olds
>nah add some fart sounds it'll be chill
>>63204806
Ah, but you see young scholar... Doctor Who is constantly consistent in it's inconsistency. Which makes it the most consistent thing there is. Doctor Who cannot be inconsistent. Because Doctor Who has no laws of time travel. None that haven't been broken before.
Steins;Gate however breaks multiple of it's own rules but then follows then suddenly follows them after the fact. Google Stains;Gate and plotholes see for yourself.
As far as I can remember only PRIMER is perfect..but I could be wrong.
>>63205263
>the slitheen were originally absolutely badass but had to be nerfed due to it being a children's show
Fucking autocorrect
>>63204920
>stays within them entirely for the duration of the series
No it doesn't, google it.
PRIMER is a better example. But I could have missed an inconsistency in PRIMER....

Whoever they ware, they put the genie into the bottle. The wall was the end of the bottle. That's why it didn't regenerate.
It's Timelord technology.
>>63205263
If they were Zygons everybody would have loved the two-parter. The emotional core is great and the actual plot is clever

WIBBLY WOBBLEY TIMEY WIMEY
>>63205185
Jamie Mathieson's two from S8 are good, Mummy on the Orient Express and Flatline (which introduces a side character who turns up again in Raven, probably should have mentioned)
>>63205185
You definitely haven't seen his best yet. Deep Breath ultimately falls flat just by being too damn long. It could use a trim.
I think Into the Dalek is AMAZING ("I see into your soul, Doctor! I see beauty! I see divinity! I see...HATRED!!"), but I also thought The Beast Below was AMAZING, so I'm kind of a weirdo.
It's generally accepted that series 8's best episodes are Listen, Mummy on the Orient Express, and Flatline.
Time Heist is also popular, but somewhat controversial, as it's a bit on the silly side.
Robot of Sherwood, Kill the Moon, and In The Forest of the Night are all garbage.
Dark Water is great, but it's part 1 of the two-part finale, and Death In Heaven is a weak follow-up. Necessary for the overall series plotline, but weak.
Last Christmas is must-see.
Series 9: Magician's Apprentice/Witch's Familiar is trash except for one particular scene with Davros.
Under the Lake/Before the Flood has a very strong part 1 but slightly weaker part 2.
The Girl Who Died is okay at best. The Woman Who Lived is shit.
Zygon Invasion/Zygon Inversion was good, but became WAY too real after the Paris attacks.
Sleep No More is gimmicky and skippable. Fun ideas, shoddy execution.
Face the Raven is the most heartbreaking companion departure in all of NuWho.
Heaven Sent might be better than Blink.
