I think there's a difference between a movie that you don't have to pay attention to (jackass) and a movie that is comfy, all be it to do with dialogue, scenery, atmosphere, lighting etc etc.

O Brother Where Art Thou is probably the most relaxing movie I know. It's quotable, quirky, charming, full of music, and for a movie that takes place during the dusty depression surprisingly beautiful.
You don't have to pay attention at all. You can just put it on and it's gorgeous at any time you want to turn on your brain or pass by.
I think Studio Ghibli movies have the same effect but in a more animated spectacle sort of way.
