>You ended the Time War Doctor, that's remarkable, but I don't think you're capable of doing that.
>You think I can't? After all I've been through? After all you've put me through? ou still think the Doctor is here? The Doctor is gone! The only thing that remains is me, the Hybrid, and I will stand in the ruins of Gallifrey! I was fine without you, for more than a thousand years, I made new friends, but you had to come and destroy my new life! Well listen to this, people of Gallifrey! If the Time Lords don't bring back Clara Oswald right now, I will kill the generals, I will kill the Lord President, I will burn down the Citadel and just to finish it off, I'll send Gallifrey back to the Time War and leave it defenceless against the Daleks! As somebody who's re-started classic who a while ago, any tips on how to muster enough motivation to get through Marco Polo (the "reconstructed" version)? I don't hate it, and the plot and the characters are interesting, but the pacing is just so sloooow (and yes, before you joke, I actually have ADHD, so it's actually a problem for me)

I do WANT to get to all of classic Who, but sometimes it's a wee bit difficult for me. "It gets awesome later on!" has proven to be no real help, but I don't wanna skip.

Also, on an unrelated note: As a non-native english speaker who's actually pretty good at understanding written english (even have my degree in English as a foreign language), how "difficult" to understand are the Big Finnish productions? I already bought some of them, but I haven't yet mustered the motivation to listen to them. I'm worrying I'll mix up people or confuse locations and so on.

It was a big turning point for McCoy, before Remembrance he was all wacky puns and prop comedy (today he'd get branded a 'meme Doctor') but with the scene in the cafe and the 'masterplan' element of it he kind of got his mojo back. And it has based Special Weapons Dalek.

I've decided to give the season finale a watch. Do I really need to have seen any of the previous episodes?
>>
>>63193881
now THAT would be the one time I wouldn't mind the Doctor being female.
>>
I binged Doctor Who from episode one until Amy left the show. I started by watching Blink (like probably EVERY OTHER "New" Who fan) and then watched a few choice episodes before binging the shit out of the show. Then I noticed something: I didn't really "hate" episodes like other people did, to this point, with a single exception I found to be unbelievable stupid (the demon-daddy-painting episode). Yes there's much contempt for single episodes flying around, so I was confused.

Then I started watching on a weekly basis, and I finally understood.

There are no "truly bad episodes" most of the time, I was just getting pissed because I knew I would have to wait a whole week for another shot at something I would deem "great", and if nothing happened until the end of the season, I'd have to wait until the next season, almost a year!

As soon as I noticed this I began to adjust my attitude towards the series, and have been much happier since.
>>
>>63194755
>being this fucking retarded he expects to watch a season finale OF ANY SHOW without needing to have seen all the episodes in the season.

I mean really...come on...

Non-native English speaker here. Go ahead, BF audios aren't that hard to understand.
I'd say paying attention to them is going to be more of a problem. I have trouble with that myself, because being audios there's nothing to focus your eyes on, and nothing to do with your hands either. I find listening to them while I clean the house, or drive, or sit on the train looking out of the window works for me.

That's mostly because Doctor Who gave me something I wasn't expecting. I had pretty much given up on "live" television by that point, partly because of german TV deciding "we should just air two or three episodes of a new season and then rerun the old ones, that way we can 'stretch out' the series and the viewers will watch the reruns anyway".

The last time I watched something that was still on tv had been five years ago, and even then I've mostly watched Anime for ten years.

Then my sister began watching Doctor Who and never shut up reccommending "Blink" to me. Finally I thought "Well, give it a shot!"

And I'm glad I did! So I decided "why the hell should I be so angry about something that gave me such joy?" Doctor Who isn't a grimdark series. It has dark parts, silly party, and yes, the tone and style of the episodes and the whole season depends heavily on the writer. But above all, for me, Doctor Who has always been about FUN.

About new worlds to explore, new people to meet, every episode has a concept you could make a whole SERIES of of, but by the end of the weekly fourty minutes, the concept is discarded entirely in order to make room for something new.

Sorry for the /autism, just wanted to gush a bit about what Doctor Who means to me.

Depending how it was filmed, if they where done on film like for example them cheap cameras use we could potentially have them in 8k since they don't have megapixels are the details are down to tiny tiny tiny fractions. We don't have any kind of technology that can display old films in their best quality yet. That is why if you ever wondered how the fuck movies from like the 60s are re-done in 1080p. With the details they can go in, in time they could beutiful restore any missing bits too.

So from my understanding, did the Doctors body go inside that machine and out through the teleporter but his mind and body where sat back or reset? Like he respawns at a checkpoint right? Every iteration of the Doctor in this episode was "fresh made" from a "template" in the machine's hard drive. So, yes, essentially like a respawn point. Or this is what I managed to understand anyhow. Lots of metaphysical questions, too. Reminded me of "The Mind's I" by Hofstadter

it depends how you measure age, does it still count if the person doesn't remember it and technically is just re-experiencing the same 3-5 days over and over again for billions of years? if you just relived the past 5 days of your life for 20 years would you really say you're 20 years older even if you didn't really grow or change as a person during those 20 years? at least with Groundhog Day he could remember it so he did grow and change as a person but we're talking about a memory wipe situation.
>>

Why are they ringing all the bells? Never heard so many.

Will all non-military personnel please step away from the Doctor. At least move the children away.

I think he's finishing his soup.

Words are his weapons, when did they stop being ours?

The Doctor does not blame Gallifrey for the horrors of the Time War, he just blames you. <-- Ashlidr, the minister of war.

You like a cliffhanger don’t you?

There was a saying in the Time War - the first thing you notice about the Doctor of War is he's unarmed.

How many regenerations did we grant you? - Doctor regenerates into 10 and 8 but goes back to himself because he has plenty to spare now?

Prophecies, they never tell you anything useful do they?

There's a sound you've been living with every day of your life that you've learned not to hear. <-- MASTER CONFIRMED?

You died billions of years ago.

Your death is an established historical event and cannot be altered.

>Once the action starts, it bloody well starts. The "Western" genre has been used to describe this ep by the production team and it's not hard to see why. Peter Capaldi, who is practically silent for five minutes (though always on screen) strolls into town like Clint Eastwood looking for revenge and protecting the locals. The town here is the Space Barn from The Day of the Doctor (and he does meet someone interesting in there) and the locals are the people of the Gallifreyan Dry Lands. And the revenge? Well, our errant Time Lord is none too happy with a familiar, yet not familiar, face - The President.

>Played by Donald Sumpter (who evokes Terence Stamp's General Zod from Superman II in an almost pantomime-like fashion at times), El Presidente isn't too pleased with the Doctor either. Their desert showdown is nothing short of spectacular, and full congratulations to director Rachel Talalay and the visual effects team for such a stunning moment of spaceships in the sand. Proper science-fiction imagery there.

>As you can guess, it's not too long before The Doctor returns to the Citadel and starts causing trouble once more. Once there, we discover certain truths and falsehoods about The Hybrid (more on that later). We also get a glimpse of the terrifying Cloister Wraiths, guarding the... well, a ghostly computer. These creations are eerie (as are the environment they patrol, complete with captured foes of the Doctor) and hauntingly filmed. Fans will delight in a most pleasing nod of the hat to the imprisoned Time Lords in the Tomb Of Rassilon from The Five
Doctors.

Is River using a Sonic Trowel?
For really intense gardening?
>>
>The ongoing hyperbole about its intentions are well-founded but does the Doctor get his revenge on the Time Lords for what they did to Clara? In a way, yes, and, in a way, no.

>There's an odd open-handedness about proceedings at the denouement as if it's a new start for everyone involved. As if the slate has been wiped clean. Which is not a bad way to go about things at all.

Makes me wonder

Ultimately, Hell Bent is not as good as Heaven Sent (and I'm guessing that's what you really want to know). But how could it be? That's really not putting it down. It does, however, live up to its promise - The Hybrid is revealed and we witness just how powerful and how far it's willing to go.

>No greater good. No just cause. The Time Lords sent us to hell, but I'm going even deeper. Take back everything we've lost. All for revenge.

Now I want a comic where all of the Who producers live in a house and have crazy antics, like Hinchcliffe wrecking RTD's fine dildo collection, or everyone forgetting JNT's birthday.
>>
>>63198585
Oh god, THAT'S what it is, presumably for archeology rather than gardening though (the Doctor hates gardeners, with their flower power-complexes).

And he also hates archeologist

Moffat said new companions give the show a chance to reboot itself and that "they had a cool idea for how to do that" for S10. I'm hoping for Gallifrey companion.

casualty a non-sci fi show set in the same place.

only 12 episodes but some have longer running time

I hope the Doctor sorta of wipes out the corrupt-homicidal High Council and helps Gallifrey on the road to democracy or something like that - while mantaining peaceful relations with the new governing body, of course.

If this happens, I'm gonna lose my shit

I think we should have Capaldi travelling on his own for a season after that last episode. He can keep talking to the Clara in his head occasionally when necessary, it shouldn't take Jenna long to film a couple of scenes telling him to get up of his arse and such.

>>63198283
Thandie Newton maybe. Not really anyone else stands out.

Reminder that Tom Baker's claim the show could survive without a companion has been vindicated
