>he thinks it's stupid kids shit

Not true. He didn't think that, he just didn't understand the scripts so he declined. He also didn't understand the script for League but he didn't want to make the same mistake a third time so he took the role.
>>
>>63182641

This can't be true, Connery would be awful in either of those roles
>>
League is much like Wild Wild West in that its a supposedly infamously bad film thats actually alright.

Visual effects were pretty trash though

Don't really know or care about the Architect thing, but he was Jackson's and Boyen's first choice for Gandalf

>"In addition to a US$10 million per film salary, they offered Connery 15 percent of the box office for all three movies. In what would turn out to be a monumentally poor decision, Connery declined the part because he "did not understand the script".

>Connery said of the part, "I never understood it. I read the book. I read the script. I saw the movie. I still don't understand it. Ian McKellen, I believe, is marvellous in it."

money is near worthless to him at this point on a personal level. I guess one could counter that he could of burned off the 5 to 8 years it took to make the films and throw that coin at some personal pet project or whatever.

but he is older, has a ton of money, fame and of course his icon level run as James Bond. Why waste 5+ years on a project you are not really hyped about? Oh I could see say Burt Reynolds leaping at the money and the chance to really act in something and change his over image late in life. Yet they are not going to make an offer like that to him, or even offer the role at all.

>>
>>63183231
Do you think Sean Connery was actually aware that he was doing voice acting for this, or did the producers just lead him into a studio, record his ramblings, and then base a movie around it?
>>
>>63183410
not the guy you're responding to, but I believe I remember something about that whole sir billi business being done quite a few years ago but not getting a release until recently, also it's some kind of scottish flick and everything scottish gives connery a huge clue.
>>
>>63182624
Yes one has to laugh at a neckbeard NEET who'll be forgotten long, long, long before sean connery is, attempting to make fun of one of the best actors of all time, with a net worth of 120 million who popularised one of the most famous and profitable film series of all time.

One has to laugh.
>>
>>63183546
He's the one that produced the film, having already voiced the character previously in a short.
>>
>>63183410
He's the one that paid money for that to be made.
>>
>>63183761

Everyone dodged a gigantic bullet but Connery. How much would that be; Like 450 million dollars? It's an insane amount.

They used to play it on the TV at least once a year when I was a kid and it spooped the shit out of me.
>>
>>63183880
>but stated the idea was shelved as being distracting to the film.

His dialogue was oddly distracting as is, given that if you see his scenes with the idea in mind that his character was supposed to be played by Sean Connery, it becomes fucking obvious.

When Bond first meets him he says something like "you're still alive?" as if we are supposed to know who he is, and gets corny one-liners such as "welcome to Scotland".

The movie had an ongoing theme of old Bond going back to his roots, so it would've fit right in. Instead it was just odd to have so much focus on such a random character.
