That's bad logic. My premise is teenagers like pizza. There are people who are adults who are still teenagers (18 and 19 year olds). Therefore, some adults also clearly like pizza. okay, that's the only one that gets a pass from me. there's plenty of stuff in it that i hate (all the endless goofing around high fiving and pizza jokes from the cartoon), but also a lot that i like (the grittier aspects, the stuff at the ranch, mainly the parts taken from the original comics). good enough movie, but i feel that the tones of these two influences don't match. the other movies are just shit.

That's pretty much it. It doesn't really matter if pizza is iconic of anything because all they have to do to make it iconic is to use it often enough.
It reminds me a lot of Sonic the Hedgehog and his chili dogs. There's nothing special about chili dogs. They just taste good to most people and Sonic ate them every single episode for that one animated series. If Sonic eats enough chili dogs, eventually they become "his food". It gets to the point where if you see a chili dog, you think "Sonic".
Hell. The movie showed it. They could get it delivered easily to the sewer. It is New York after all and there seems to be a pizza place on every block.
