One of the biggest flaws of DS9 was that they always alluded to, but never revealed and fleshed out, how truly badass was Garak.

Instead we got treated to many episodes of mush-mouthed Odo goob-up on his Bajoran bitch.
>>
>>63176051
>muh Kira
Fuck Odo was the worst. He was only good as Quark's foil.
>>
He was good because he was underused, if they made too many episodes about him he would become boring. It was a treat when you saw Andrew Robinson or Marc Alaimo guest starring at the beginning.
>>
>>63176051
But that's a good thing (about Garak, the Odo/Kira plotline was dumb as fuck). Restraint is something writers need to understand better.

I guessed you never saw the episode where Garak went crazy and tried to kill everyone on the abandoned station, and it took the whole crew just to stop him.
>>
>that episode where the O'Brian's daughter got sent to the past on a planet and when they brought her back she was a feral ault
but of course the status quo ruined that.

I need to see that. link?

I've been watching ds9 in a coherent manner for the first time over the past few weeks (whereas previously I might've watched one or two episodes when it was on tv). I'm currently midway through season 4, and there are three things I'm finding:

1) Sisko seems so far to be the least developed/used of the main characters

2) Jake and Nog are so fucking awful that I think I actually prefer Wesley. Nog in particular is bad, and I keep finding myself trying to figure out if the actor is super short or if they were using camera tricks.

3) Everything to do with Bajor and 'muh prophets' is boring. Cardassians were right in saying they were the superior race.
I have read that the producers knew the audiences hated everything to do with Bajor and religion, but still did stories focusing on them with the studio eventually telling them to do less.

Someone have that 'muh prophets' pic?
>>
>>63177580
>nog
>bad
No way dude you gotta stick with him, he and Jake both get better later in the series as they grow up more.
>>
>>63176498
>whole crew
you misspelled BASED O'BRIEN there bud
>>
>>63177580
Nog has an incredible moment when he wants to join star fleet. He's leagues better than Wesley. Wesley got the entire shit handed to him. Sisko practically brought Nog to tears just to find out why he wanted to join.

From what I understand the show was intended to be more of a sci-fi drama than a pure sci-fi... that being said I hated most of the show. The Dominion War was what kept me interested.

> It's a Jake and Nog episode
> It's a Bajoran Prophet episode
> It's a Ferengi episode
> It's a baseball episode
>>
>>63177580
Man, it's almost like jake and nog (especially nog) have dynamic character arcs and grow up into functioning adults
as opposed to 'muh prodigy status'

I liked the bit of mystery around the character, made him even more dangerous in a sense.
>>
>>63177977
>>63177987
Yea OBrian stopped him. Not before he killed most of the crew and the other people on the ship.
>>
Someone on DS9 I wanted them to show more powerlevel with was the doctor. They hyped him up to be super smart and everything. They should have done an episode where he actually used his abilities to outsmart Q or conquer a whole planet.

The closest either of them have had to an arc (so far, last episode watched was the bond parody) was Sisko testing Nog if he really wanted to join starfleet, and the episode where adult Jake committed suicide in front of Sisko (and spent the entire episode crying like a bitch)

>>63176051
Now that I think of it, did anyone except the Romulans question why Odo and Kira just happened to be on a shuttle when the Defiant was presumed lost?

cardassians tried to get rid of him although he was degraded to a tailor on a space station.

so much this. OH NOOO ODOO! is what i would yell at the screen.

odo and quark are always gold. I would have watched an entire series of that.

DS9's major sins:

>Turns Dukat from interesting 3-dimensional villian to cartoon villian
>Odo keeps wanting to join his people and would easily betray his friends if it wasn't for his Kira boner
>Prophets Deus Exing the Sacrifice of Angels battle was kinda lame
>Ends with Sisko leaving his pregnant wife to be space jesus

He became boring once they decided he should be all whiny and emotional instead of still being the sheriff in town.
That said

One of the best moments in DS9 and Star Trek as a whole.

They gave us EXACTLY as much as we needed about Garak. Pale Moonlight was absolutely perfect because it showed a hint of what Garak was capable of but still left so many things vague and implied. Revealing too much would have spoiled the character.

Fuck DS9 Worf.

Fuck Word in general, but specifically fuck DS9 Worf.

They completely reverted his character back to Season 2 TNG, and we got the exact same fucking character building arcs where he learned to interact with normal people all over again. Worf was the worst thing to happen to DS9.
>>
>>63185583
Klingons were always pretty boring though.
>why are they doing this somewhat illogical thing?
>BECAUSE TRADITION AND HONOR
>why don't they o this very efficient and logical thing?
>BECAUSE TRADITION AND HONOR
I know they were supposed to be the anti-vulcains, but c'mon
>>
>>63185626
There's a subtlety to the Klingons though, if you look deeply enough. For all their talk of honor and tradition, they very often skirt around it and find ways to justify just about everything they do. They're an interestingly complex people, all the boasting and warlikeness isn't their only side.
>>
>it's a CARDASSIANED episode
>>
>>63178122

after his big reveal they started giving him more spock-like dialog and siddig would intentionally fuck it up until they got the hint
>>
>>63185806
Too bad that is really just explored in a couple TNG episodes and late DS9.
They knew they could do it since the Undiscovered Country but even then Klingons are one-dimentional for the most part.
They missed a good opportunity.
>>
>>63185906
not him but
one day im going back and watching ds9 and figure out exactly when he's supposed to be in jail.

shits so confusing
>>

The quark sex change episode was the worst by a mile.
