The people he tells to do things don't always pick the best way to do it. Case in point, the people he told to kill each other at the end. Not one of them looked seriously injured by the time he said 'Stop", Given time I bet she would have gone for the ear or eye, but she was stopped too soon. The very first thing she did was try to shoot a bullet in her head, when she was out of bullets she panicked, looked for a bullet and needed that bullet in her head right then, not in 5 minutes, right at that moment. So crazed she didn't even think to reload the gun or just put it in her mouth.

Jessica first scratched that itch of having a new toy with superpowers. There may not even be a next season since JJones is based on the Alias comic. The Alias comic basically ends right where the series finale was. The comic was later recast into The Pulse which JJones was only a supporting character. The Pulse focused mainly on Luke Cage.

It's fairly ambitious writing with poor execution. The writing team tried to weave in a lot of themes through their characters (Jessica - PTSD, Patty - Child Abuse, Robyn/Ruben - Incest, Hope - Violation/Rape/Despair/Abortion, Malcolm - Drug Addiction, Jeri - Greed) that didn't really gel together as well as they'd hoped.
I applaud the effort but the final product is pretty dismal.

When the virus became "stronger", it probably made it travel faster or some shit. Whenever he opens his mouth everyone probably gets instantly infected, it's just that you don't see the "Symptoms" (mind control) until he tells them something to do, which he does over the intercom.
