Last night I was rewatching Time of the Doctor and lamenting the fact they tried to cram an entire season of silence-related plot twists into it. I was wondering how different Series 8 would have been had Matt stayed around, when suddenly it hit me:

The episode is pretty much straight-forward, but(and there's a big but), not as simple as it seems at times.
What I loved most is that you can basically break the episode down in 4 main parts based on the locations featured(Gallifrey and the Gallifrey Depths of Old, the Diner in Nevada, and some scenes inside the TARDIS(ES)
It begins with the Doctor alone, dusty in Nevada, visiting a diner and meeting with Amara, the Clara-echo waitress.
Blah, blah, blah, they talk, he starts to tell her the events of Gallifrey and who she reminds him of.
We get flashbacks(the whole episode is pretty much a flashback, a story told by the Doctor), mostly taking place on Gallifrey.
