Underrated Bond movie thread.

Die Another Day for me. It's so over the top and ridiculous but it works here. It's almost like a modernized tongue in cheek parody of some of Bond's campier aspects but I love it. Cheesy sex innuendos, space lasers, ice palace, cloaked car, DNA mutation light masks, nods and references to old Bond movies, Madonna cameo, everything. It takes everything people joke about in Bond movies and somehow makes it entertaining and fresh. Also Brosnan is a great lead.

When Berry jumps down from some vent on the plane at the end of movie.

You can see some stunt hand letting her go.

Fucking horrible bond, all pierce bond was shit.

While it's certainly not a good movie, Die Another Day is so gleefully retarded that I can't help but enjoy it. It's like Diamonds are Forever fucked The Man With the Golden Gun and gave birth to the reincarnation of Moonraker. Dumb as shit, but it occupies the same weirdly enjoyable place in my heart as Batman & Robin.

Furthermore, Goldeneye is legit Top Shelf Bond material, but the middle two Brosnans are just boring shit.
>>
>>63102575
Agreed about Goldeneye, easily a top 5 bond movie. Tommorow Never dies is just mediocre and boring, it isn't that bad but meh. The World is not Enough is just really awful. Die Another Day is retarded as fuck but one of the most fun and enjoyable Bond flicks, just don't take it too seriously.
>>
>>63102394
Golden Eye is a fucking classic. Kill yourself Craig.
>>
The World Is Not Enough is the most underrated.
Die Another Day is good until the ice palace WITH THE EXCEPTION of
>the opening madonna song
>fat bond in havana
brosnans got a bit of belly going on under his shirt for a guy who just got out of NK
>every hally berry scene
that CGI cliff dive holy fuck
>>
>>63102217
Yeah it might just be underrated

Most Bond fans would give it a 0/10 but it probably deserves somewhere between a 2 and a 4, for having approximately two good scenes

back when the country still enjoyed fun and didn't have a taste for borderline kuck and depression simulator films

No one ever gives Dalton his due. I think both The Living Daylights and License to Kill are excellent.

I like to imagine Die Another Day as the first post-ironic Bond. I don't know if it actually is but it helps me enjoy it.

Nigger you are tripping. I could almost argue that nothing Connery did is underappreciated, they're all popular with bond fans except for one or two.

>>63104120
>post ironic bond

I like it.
>>
>>63105093
Thunderball actually gets a lot of flack for being slow and the underwater sequence that may feel are very drawn-out. Some Bond fans downright despise it. I love it, but you can't be serious about it being universally liked.
>>
>>63104594
Yeah, always trips me out too, he did a hell of a job with it too - You Only Live Twice's plot is as radical as it gets.
>>
>>63105219
>You Only Live Twice's plot is as radical as it gets.
Exactly, it's like the plots of all the previous films thrown into a pot and then turned up to 11. That's what makes it so great
>>
>>63105183
The underwater battle always makes me really uneasy, but in a good way, I love it. Something about all the killing going on silently, you can't hear screams underwater or much else.
>>

First act is great IMO, Bond infiltrating a beach in North Korea, that hovercraft chase, crazy Asians, secret compounds, political tensions at the DMZ etc.

Bond getting captured, tortured, traded, and being treated as a traitor by MI6 before escaping, all that stuff was brilliant. Classic Bond.

As soon as Bond goes to Jamica it starts to fall flat. As soon as he leaves Jamica it turns to shit. Madonna, White Asian guy, campy gadgets, absurd one liners etc etc.

If they'd kept the whole thing in based in Asia and not had any fucking space lasers and vanishing cars it could have been the GOAT millenial Bond.

Imagine, 007 loose in Hong Kong while the Chinese, North Koreans and MI6 are all looking for him.

Shoulda had him sneaking back into North Korea to clear his name after spending the first half of the movie sneaking around Hong Kong.

Yeah, the first part is seedy espionage and intrigue in Hong Kong and it slowly builds to an outrageous climax with ninjas and piranha pools. The only scene that really took me out of the experience was the Little Nellie scene, but I think that's probably because his helmet is so fucking silly.

I love the Little Nellie scene, it's silly but fun as hell. Can't help but smile.

Personally, the only scene that bothers me is when Bond undergoes cosmetic surgery to become Japanese, and seeing him crouch down like a leper so he can look short. So dumb, fortunately it's a small part of the film.

Whatever, some Caribbean island nation. I sear, half of all the fucking Flemming books took place in Jamaica so it's an easy mistake to make.
>>
>>63105606
100% agree

The beginning of Die Another Day is the best of any Bond movie IMO. A shame the rest of the movie is unadulterated whoreshit
>>
>>63104028
The Living Daylights is excellent
Licence to Kill is so shit it's good
>>
>>63107419
I wouldn't call it shit. I mean it certainly doesn't fit the mold of a traditional Bond movie, but as far as sleazy '80s revenge action flicks go,, License to Kill is pretty great.

Furthermore, it's Desmond Llewellyn's finest hour as Q in any Bond film, and I love Desmond's portrayal of Q.
