What went wrong?
Let's be honest here. Nothing ever went right. The show was always tumblr as fuck. /tv/'s tolerance for this bullshit has just decreased over the years. I always despised it personally.
One episode a year
People grew up, moved on, got bored of waiting, got bored of theorising on what was a relatively shit cliffhanger.
Basically, the writing wasn't good enough to warrant the waiting period between series.
>>63071703
it became too self conscious and pandering to fans.
also, the writing got significantly worse
>>63071827
>tfw I made that thread
Feels good man
>>63071901
This so much. And coupled with the low amount of episodes per series just killed it dead.
Each of the episodes in the latest series were decently made, fun fanservice episodes (where the majority of the episode) would have made a decent filler episode in a longer series. But with 3 episodes a series, one series a year? There's just no substance.
>>63071703
Last series was painfully bad, the worst shit I've ever seen tbqh. The second one with Moriarty was ok.
>>63071901
This, exactly the same as what happened to Doctor Who. I expect an Osgood style character to turn up in the next series of Sherlock.
It's an entry level show for people with no cinematic training.
>>63071703
>What went wrong?
MOFFAT
>>63071703
This is a wonderful modern day take on the old Sherlock Holmes stories from back in the day. Cumberbatch is at his best, per usual, and Freeman plays a great sidekick. I feel like the image of Moriarty was taken in a direction that I'm still not sure I like. He's clearly as evil as ever but the guy playing him gives a performance that is very up or down. I'm also not sure if I like the format of the show. 3 hour and a half "episodes" per season is just something I'm not used to and probably will never get used to seeing. You really have to sit down and commit to this if you're going to get into the show. It's not really a negative so I can't penalize it for that. Just know that people in America watching this show might be confused by the movie length of these episodes.
>>63071827
Makes me laugh every time. This anon was great.
>>63071827
>the retarded hitman who uses a coin to decide who to kill and then a cow stunner, the most identifiable weapon in human history for a hitman, to kill them is a smart character written by smart people
Hahahahaha holy SHIT.
>>63074171
Did you even read the post you f*ucking moron?
I enjoy it
Then again I'd watch cumberbatch recite a phone book no homo
>>63071703
Elementary was better despite having every reason to be worse.
That's how bad Sherlock is.
>>63074211
did you? fucking no country fanbois
>MUH WESTERN BUT EVERYTHING IS THE OPPOSITE
I dont even care what movies people like but people who love this one are almost always pretentious idiots
>>63071827
nice
i'd also say that it's a shit show due to poor cinematography and atrocious acting by the main char
if i didn't watch fargo i'd think that watson chap was hopeless actor too.
>>63071901
That and this
>>63074263
>every reason to be worse
Bruh...
>>63074171
lel at a "cow stunner" being the most identifiable weapon in human history for a hitman. did you seriously type that out and then hit send thinking that made any kind of sense whatsoever.
>>63074376
>one person runs around murdering people with it
>he is literally the only person using one to kill people
>it isnt identifiable
I honestly cant tell if you're trolling. You cant be that dumb.
>>63074376
he's making a good point, in terms of the hitman being able to be linked to other murders.
>>63074337
>dem crows feet
>>63074401
>he is literally the only person using one to kill people
Exactly
>>63071827
This was funnier when it didn't get posted in every single Sherlock thread ever

>>63074401
>>63074417
i misread his meaning. i thought he meant it was the most common weapon in human history.
>>63074451
does its repetitious usage negate any of its criticism
>>63074440
>that would stop you
Sherlock the book character uses deductive logic to cleverly solve cases. Sherlock the Moffat TV character uses magic autism powers to piece together random and meaningless nothings into a tapestry of bullshit.
>>63071827
Sherlock being a wizard is the fucking point of it.
Just like the one with Iron manlet actor.
>>63074704
i bet you defend doctor who too
>>63074704
Go to bed Moffat.
>>63074465
Yes. Anything popular or frequently repeated is shit.
>>63074606
Has anyone here actually read the books? Sherlock's deduction from Watson's cellphone was a straight copy from one of the stories, as are almost all of his deductions.
>>63074757
are dubs shit?
>>63074465
Not really, just that after awhile you get the impression the guy who wrote it literally sits around waiting for Sherlock threads so he can post it, or he's the one starting Sherlock threads just so he can post it
Just makes it less funny
>>63074770
>Sherlock's deduction from Watson's cellphone was a straight copy from one of the stories
>written in 1887
>cellphones
Yeah it was a straight copy. Sure dude. We believe you.
>>63071703
le "autistic psychopath is a superpower" is what went wrong
also martin freeman being a passive agressive bitch like usual. What is the book watson like?
The character interaction between Holmes and Watson seem like they are closet homosexual lovers as oppose to close friends.
>>63074852
It's 2015. Literally nothing wrong with this.
>>63074263
Elementary is comfy.
Freeman is just boring. I feel like he's a walking place holder for someone better.
Seeing Watson's wife in that assassin getup was one of the funniest things I've seen in my entire life. I couldn't take the show seriously anymore after that.
>>63074815
It followed a very similar line of deductive reasoning, but I think with a pocket watch.
>>63074770
As it went on it got worse and worse at sticking to deduction.
>I am Sher locked
Awful.
>BBC
>Moffat
>3 fucking episodes per series
Pick three.
>>63071703
Became way too self aware of its fans, going so far as to make them a part of the show
Reminder Luther was a billion times better than this
tumblr fan service after season 2
>>63071901
> it became too self conscious and pandering to fans.
This.
The took an excellent concept (a modern adaption of Sherlock Holmes that still stays true to the original stories) that was very well done in the first two seasons, and in S03 turned into a cheese-ball comedy in an attempt to expand the viewer base as much as possible, by appealing to ding-bat soccer moms and dudebros in Facebook...
The Corporate Mentality; "who cares if it's shit, we'll make more money!"
>>63071827
Holy fuckballs. I really like the show and I agree 100%
s1 and s2 are enjoyable. s3 turned it into some parody of itself.
at this point it's just stale and i honestly don't even care when s4 comes out. how the fuck does it take years upon years to film 4 and a half hours worth of tv show content? it's just unacceptable.
Wait a minute, that card!
>>63071827
>Sherlock just winks at the screen, the end
Always catches me off guard.

'Season' 4 in a few weeks
Thank goodness that no one will be able to do this shit to Poirot.
