The fact that the movie is able to become popular is evidence that the movie panders to plebs and thus has a very low ceiling of quality.

Exactly the problem my friend. If an outright degenerate medium is largely inspired by your flick then what does that say about its quality? If it was real cinema it would have completely alienated anybody who would even think about touching a video game instead of giving them a bunch of "based" scenes to quote.

mate seriously do not feel that way, those movies are not at all sophisticated. they're very watered down, idea-free examples of artistic fraud. The Artist also takes its entire plot from Singin' In the Rain and basically has absolutely no reason to exist. Sophisticated is never an applicable word for Oscar movies.

>>63068448

well Pixar movies basically appeal to normies regardless of how good or bad the movie is, they're mostly indiscriminate viewers who like how cute the creatures are on screen.

Ratatouille looks really beautiful but I can't really remember anything about it and it had almost no emotional impact on me.

Finding Nemo and The Incredibles are both just a lot of fun, unlike most of Pixar's sentimental weep fests.

Uh sure they appeal to "normies" but you know movies like Ratatouille, Wall-E, UP or even Inside Out have more to them than just the "look at the creatures on the screen" meme.

I am convinced that the first half of Wall-E is one of the best in movie history 2bh.

Ratatouille is a master piece as a whole.

^ This quote here should be /tv/'s theme so autists like the Goodfellas hater stfu and rethink their "i am superior" meme approach
>>

The opening half of Wall-E is fantastic but then the movie kind of kills itself in the second half

desu I just don't really like watching animated movies because I think they're pretty limited by the form. They have to appeal to children and so there aren't really all that many interesting ideas in them and they usually have pretty black and white universes.

Well I have the same opinion for almost all of his movies. And yes, I have seen everything except Spartacus (I'm not a fan of sword and sandals but I will still see it someday). I find the cinematography in his movies to be very good, the way it was shot is great. He also put a lot of work in his sets, decoration etc.: the special effects in 2001 were way superior to what they usually had in the 60s, and the sets for Clockwork Orange and Shining probably required an insane amount of preparation.

But my main problem is that I just find the story uninteresting, the characters and actors bad (with a couple of exceptions such as Sellers in Strangelove, or Ermey in FMJ). It would take time to describe movie by movie why I disliked the characters or story, but that's true to almost all of his movies except Paths of Glory and Lolita.

I don't hate these movies btw, but I'm just not in the hypewagon. I don't like them.
