All day every day. I can taste the old-metal taste in the local tap system, and even if I draw a glass back at my hometown (where it tastes better) I can still see little flakes of dust and shit in the water.
To be clear, I know that unlike most countries, the tap water is safe to drink, and can be had in a pinch. I don't have a problem drinking it. I just choose not to for the above reasons.

I can walk into any restaurant, cafe or diner and ask for a glass of water. I can drink from any water fountain. I could even fill up a bottle from a sink in a public rest room. However, I have no idea who touched any of that before I did.
We live in a world where other peoples hygiene cannot be guaranteed. I trust a machine that filled up a piece of plastic more than I trust someone working minimum wage or a random fountain sitting in the middle of a park.

I live in Calgary and, having been to the states quite a few times, I can say that tap water in the States is horrid. It's like gulping down shitty morning-breath saliva. It actually stinks and tastes bad.
