What's The Simpsons like nowadays? I haven't watched it ion fifteen years.

-re-hashed, watered down plots
-very awkward, charicaturized gags (ie Homercopter, Barney "driving" Homer home with a dart board, etc)
-plot is peripheral to the gags
-where pop culture was once inspired by the simpsons, it is now the opposite

>Non-Treehouse of Horror episode
>Simpsons go into space and meet Kang and Kodos

Visual-wise, it's sanitised, soulless flash-style animation now. And all the environments and vehicles are really nasty 3D.

Not good
>>63037900
But this looks great, anon.
Am I remembering right that they did let Krusty die this season or the one before it?
>>63037855
>all we need are keyframes.
>>63037921
It's not
>>63037558
It's often crap, but 3-4 episodes a year Matt Selman works as showrunner, and it suddenly becomes a more disciplined show.
The Book Job, A Totally Fun Thing That Bart Will Never Do Again, Brick Like Me, and Halloween of Horror, all Selman's, were all pretty good.
I fucking wish he took over as permantnt showrunner.

His father
>>63037968
His father died, the character that hasn't been relevant for over a decade.
>>63038041
Why doesn't he just get Al Jean to step down? Does Jean love the power to ruin The Simpsons' legacy that much?
>>63037981
the fuck is going on here. Is that Kylo Ren and Kilo Ton from Girls?
>>63038058
>>63038093
>his father
Did they use the character in the new Simpsons at all?
I can't even say you like the Simpsons these days without specifying which seasons, and people will still think you are retarded since no one out there remembers the good old simpsons
this is fucked up
>>63037900
I think I actually saw this on Sunday and flanders said something about forced cultural references
>>63038184
He did, it was like "squeezed in half a minute weak movie reference" or some shit. The episode was a mess and all over the place
>>63038213
I watched the whole thing but I don't remember anything that happened, it was all over the place like you said
>>63038184
The fact that they acknoledg their shit doen't make it any less shitty.
>>63038229
Yeah. It's like they tried to pull together a touching family values episode in old simpsons style, but just fucked it up hard.
