There's that one fake documentary style film about ww3 that used a mixture of stock footage and actors playing people being interviewed. I think it was just called world war three but I cant remember for sure
Just got a bluray release, too. Really recommend checking it out. Great soundtrack and dreamlike visuals.

this. he went insane and the whole WWIII scenario is a (somewhat exaggerated by his crazy mind) metaphor for his family's and friends' lives being destroyed (the exaggeration applies here as well) by him being kekoo and doing something stupid. he goes away to a hospital and his dearest are fine, except of course for the house they lost. there's no WWIII.
