That one of the most unique films i've ever seen.
It's almost hypnotic
>>63007376
Only plebs fail to understand it's perfection. It's time for them to kill themselves!
its very nearly perfect except for the soundtrack which is repetitive and horrible. doesnt fit at all.
>>63007444
terrible opinion
>>63007376
It was unnerving.
>>63007444
Completely disagree.
>>63007444
oh my fucking jesus, kill yourself this moment
>>63007376
It's actually my favorite film. One of the only films I consider a 10/10. The visual storytelling and cinematography is absolutely incredible.
>>63007444
Holy shit terrible opinion. Worst waste of trips I've ever seen.
>>63007513
top kek. listen to this .. it could be written by a first year violin student. its so basic its embarrassing.

>>63007444
lol idiot
>>63007590
Nice one, Confucius.
>>63007376
one of my favs. 10/10 ost
>>63007594
the music is being judged on emotional content and a 3 note violin solo played over and over doesnt contain any.
>>63007376
If anyone were to call this the best film of the 21st century so far I would completely understand their choice. Absolutely stunning movie.
I'm sure there'll be people in here any second to tell you how it's shit though.
>>63007700
For you. Art is subjective
>>63007700
Literal autism
>>63007718
indeed it is.
see >>63007590 for a full explanation.
>>63007700
>3 notes
>doesn't contain any emotion
I don't even fucking like Under The Skin but my autism is forcing me to link this

>>63007376
still the worst movie /tv/ tricked me into watching
shit movie
shit ending
damn even scarjos saggy tits and ass were shit.
you guys are from reddit right?
>>63007711
>21st century so far
I don't know. i wouldn't go that far. also, "best" in what terms?
>>63007590
>>63007766
nice strawman.
also there are more than 3 notes being played there, Beethoven.
>>63007700
>3 notes cant be emotional
>>63007791
>I'm 12:The Post
>>63007854
provide a link to a piece of music using just 3 notes that has any emotional value.
european dance music doesnt count as music, before you link that.
I KEK'D so hard at this movie, is a joke right?
By the way, the elephant man was a cheap move, even for artsy farts.
>>63007916
I would say the first piece you linked had "emotional value". Maybe you should define that first
>music doesn't count as music
>>63007976
>this post
>>63007551
>>63007376
totally agree
>>63007916
>What is context?
>What is minimalism?
>what is atmosphere?
i watched it the other day and i was suprised by how good it was, i kinda expected it was gonna be some psuedo-artsy shit hyped by waifufags.
is sexy beast worth watching? i dont usually like english heist/crime films but i would watch if its anything like this
>>63008409
CUNT
>>63007838
the prelude uses one chord. it's only 3 notes but it uses the same 3 notes from more than one octave.
>>63008409
>sexy beast
More of a traditional film, less artsy. pretty great tho
So what part of the movie made you oh SHIT the most? It was the skin suction thing, right?..
>>63007663
>>63008603
Oh anon..you really know me
I was astounded by how hard my penis got during the seduction scenes when she brings the men inside the house. I didn't even need to touch it and went straight to full mast.
>>63007376That forest skin scene
>>63008718
Scarlett was so fucking lewd
>>63007376
It's good cinema. The imagery of the seduction scene and the eering minimalist score were instantly burned in my brain.
>>63008409
>psuedo-artsy shit hyped by waifufags.
That's literally what it is.
>>63009669
I thought it was one of the best movies of last year and I also think that Johnasson is human garbage who'd benefit the world by dying painfully.
She's been in exactly 3 decent movies all of which were good despite her. This is one of those movies.
>>63007700
man, you are so fucking stupid
>>63009736
Who would you rather have replacing her?
I saw this film with my brother, without prior knowledge at the gft cinema in Glasgow, on a rainy stormy night. It was incredible, I don't think I will ever have a film experience like that again, I would be extremely lucky if I did. It would be like going to Spain on holiday and watching amores perros on release by accident.
>>63009815
youre momma
>>63009815
I'd leave it the way it is. It's a good film already, but she is not the reason for that. I'd start recasting her in the films she actively ruined like The Prestige.
>>63009736
No, this movie was shit.
Pretentious trash.
>I also think that Johnasson is human garbage who'd benefit the world by dying painfully.
You wouldn't fuck her?
>She's been in exactly 3 decent movies all of which were good despite her. This is one of those movies.
What're the other two? Her?
>>63007444
Wasted trips
>>63009865
The other two are Ghost World and The Man Who Wasn't There. Her was shit. How was Under The Skin pretentious outside of being vaguely "arty"?
>>63007700
Wasted triple dubs too for fucks sake
>>63009977
Lel.
>>63008603
That was the moment I came upon the realization that I was watching a film that would cede no territory for the IMDb filmbuff's sensibilities.
>>63010050

most autistic shit out of /tv/ since the DAVEY era
>>63007663
eww
she fat
>>63010099
And yet completely valid.
>>63009953

The movie is a lot like 2001: A Space Odyssey, which I also hated.

>>63010250
They're both slowly paced and sparsely plotted audio/visual "experiences" rather than conventional narratives. There's nothing inherently wrong with that.
Reminder that Under the Skin was rated Reddit r/movie's top 10 underrated films
>>63010472
How the fuck is it underrated? The critical reviews for it were really positive. People were saying it was the next 2001 and shit.
>>63010411
yea ok, stud
>>63010430
>They're both slowly paced and sparsely plotted audio/visual "experiences" rather than conventional narratives.
Yeah, that's it. Perfect description.
>There's nothing inherently wrong with that.
It's obviously just not my thing.
>>63010502
Underrated as in it wasn't wildly popular in the mainstream.
Don't you know what underrated means/
>>63010250
Glazer actually steals a lot from Kubrick films. Not necessarily a bad thing though
>>63010472
>DUDE I CAN'T THINK FOR MYSELF LMAO
>>63010553
Yeah, well look where thinking for yourself got you? You arrived at "reddit thought" when left to your own devices. Maybe you'd benefit from some guidance.
>>63009953
Ghost World and MWWT are both in my top ten of all time. Her really looked pretentious from the preview and I'm one of those guys that bitches about the misuse of that word.
I know it didn't do well, but I still wanna see Depp in Transcendence. Isn't that based on Ray Kurzweil? Seems like a movie version of the docu about him.
>>63010587
>from the preview
>>63010573
IS this bait or are you this mentally stunted?
>>63010548
I don't now how "stealing" from one of the most highly acclaimed directors to ever live could ever be a bad thing.
It's guaranteed success.
>>63010670
No, I'm serious. The fact that when "thinking for yourself" you ended with with an opinion that was directly in line with the reddit sensibilities then maybe you should consider the fact that reddit may be a more appropriate place for you. You'd feel more at home and I don't like "reddit thinkers" being on this board. It's win/win if you leave.
>>63010733
>DUDE US VS THEM LMAO
>DUDE BLACK OR WHITE ROFL
>>63011003
Exceptt this literally is us vs them. This literally is the white race vs the black race. Reddit is allied with the blacks. We are the last line of defense for the whites.
>>63010587
I liked Transcendence. It's a more mature look at the possible repercussions of AI and transhumanism than the likes of Ex Machina. Don't fall into the trap of going into into it with an expectation of the plot, you have to keep an open mind.
I didn't get it. It was pretentious rubbish.
>>63007376
>That one of the most unique films i've ever seen.
So you don't watch movies very often.
Nothing to brag about.
>>63011047
>Reddit is a singular entity with no different opinions
>>63011120
oh boy..patrician alert!
>>63011193
It literally is. Anyone with a different opinion is shadowbanned, their comments stricken from the record. This is fact, this is a thing that we know.
At first I found the bongland accents distracting and hard to understand, but then I saw the movie is about a literal alien who has a difficult time understanding humans.
They sound like they're speaking another language, which to her they are. It worked out well, especially when she's watching that British comedy show and the guy is laughing and she just looks confused.
I didn't love the movie but it was very interesting and creepy. Definitely needs another watch.
>>63007376
>All these chavs getting rekt
shit was hilarious
Britbong here, I heard that americans need subtitles to understand the scots in this movie. Is that true ?
>>63011546
Americans haven't heard of this film because its shit.
Other than SJ nude.
>>63011584
I thought americans hate nudity in films e.g. blue is the warmest colour
>>63007376
It was filmed around the parts of Glasgow i frequent. It doesn't try and make it even 1% bleaker, it's just exactly as it's shown.
Though there are much nicer bits to be fair.
>>63009815
this isn't a part that requires good acting, anyone pretty would do
>>63007376
I liked it
Then I made my mom watch it and she kept complaining the whole time that nothing was happening and she wanted to change the channel but she watched the whole thing anyway
So yes, hypnotic maybe
>>63010472
who the fuck cares
>>63007789
To me it was Videodrome
That movie was so bad. It was so bad.
Babbys first erotic supernatural surrealist body horror
>>63012895
What else falls into that category?
>>63009865
>pretentious
Theres that word again. Opinion invalidated.
>>63010535
>IT'S SHIT
>lol jk it's just not my thing
Then why not say "I didn't like it" pleb faggot?
>>63011089
>I didn't get it
The themes are literally so simple
>pretentious
There's that word again, pleb
>>63013067
Why would I need to clarify? If I'm saying something is shit it should be obvious that it's my opinion.
>>63007791
u wot m8?
>>63013016
>>63013111
You can understand something and still think it's pretentious.
>>63015156
Why was it pretentious
It was a pretty simple straightforward movie
>>63007590
Let me guess, you listen exclusively to Merzbow.
>>63007444
It was my favorite soundtrack of last year.
>>63010704
I think about stealing from kubrick is that he's a relatively harder director to steal from well so most filmmakers just don't out of lack of talentNolan tries and we all see how well that goes
>>63007547
I really liked the way it sounds like sort of a callback to the simple, overdramatic orchestral scores of old school horror films while playing over this modern, very nonconventional movie.
>>63010472
>actually knowing this
back you go
>>63008409
One of the best performances ever by Ben Kingsley. Great movie.
>>63008409

>>63007444
Objectively wrong. The score was what made it so memorable to begin with
I am still disappointed that the adaptation isn't faithful to the original
>>63007976

>>63022471
I like it a lot to be quite honest me familia
>>63022471
yes
one of the most beautiful and unsettling movies I have seen in years
>tfw she ignores the abondoned baby on the beach
>>63023009
>>63008603
The baby on the beach. Like they didn't even notice it.
>>63007547
is this guy for real
>>63007547
>>63007663
Listening to this while playing this is CREEPY as fuck. Good movie.
>>63021776
not that anon but maybe he means because they used a actual elephant man for the role
>>63010411
It's okay, if I had never seen a woman named in real life, I wouldn't know what to compare it to.
>>63012811
How the fuck did you hate Videodrome? Everything about that movie is great.
>>63007376
I thought the ending was pathetic.
It whimpered out, literally.
>>63026456
I liked it; like at first you dislike the potential rapist guy, but then he's just like "I've no idea what the fuck that is but BURN IT WITH FIRE!" and you feel human solidarity with him.
>>63026456
You have a point, felt it lacked that certain something but it was well shot, no doubt about that.
>>63012811
You have absolutely terrible taste.
>>63026935
that wasn't what the film wanted to you feel lol.
it was literally "oh poor robot, shit we need to end the story somehow fuck lets just have the guy from the last scene burn it".
I love how bad writing will be explained away by retards if a movie pimps itself out with the right kind of arty mystery.
>>63027146
